I have recently had an MRI that revealed possible White matter disease and cannot get into the specialist for over a month. I have still been taking my antidepressant but find that I am more and more irritable and can't stand myself at times.

the typical white matter changes that you are describing are likely not the reason of mood problems, the amygdala controls the mood but that is usually not a part of these white matter changes, good luck

Irritability is an emotional response to outside stimuli. The same part of the brain that controls emotions controls depression. Some anti-depressants cause irritability at first, but that symptom gradually goes away. If after 60 days you still feel irritable, let your doctor know. He may need to change your dosage or change to a different type of anti-depressant.

Good luck!

IRRITABLE COMES FROM YOUR INTESTINAL SYSTEM, NOT YOUR BRAIN. YOUR PILLS ARE DISRUPTING THE INTESTINAL TRACT. ANTIDEPRESSANT IS NOT GOING TO HELP YOU AT ALL. YOU NEED TO START ON A NATURAL WAY TO HELP WITH YOUR DEPRESSTION. LETS GET RID OF YOUR DISEASE AND THEN THE FEEL GOOD ABOUT YOUR SELF WILL COME. WANT MORE INFO. CALL_MARKYPOO@YAHOO.COM
