Some people feel that with the modernization of Christian music, songs are becoming less meaningless and more for listening to rather than praising the King of Glory, God. What's your stand on that?

I like "Mercy Me" and "Casting Crowns".
I prefer a church that is more alive, if you want to put it that way. But I don't like a church that has the whole nine yards either, with drums, guitar, etc and just rocking out so to speak. That to me is just not "reverent" to the House Of God. We are suppose to praise Jesus and give rejoice yes, but also we are suppose to respect Holy ground as well. Keep music to piano/organ and perhaps a guitar. I think there are limits when it comes to praising Jesus and giving him honor and glory. That you "can" and some "do" go overboard. I do love to praise Jesus and it should come right from the heart with feeling.

I usually like a Christian group that I can tell is Christian - from the lyrics. But, sometimes there is something to a 'sound' that is appealing. As has been stated already, I too like CCM for driving/working/background - and Andy Hunter is the best road trip music - and deeper worship music for God time. Some songs from Among Thorns can be truly moving, and I have been known to put them on repeat for ages.

I love the more modern Christian band when I am driving, cleaning my house, etc. It allows me to enjoy good music with a pure message and I feel free to let my children listen to it.
During time of praise and I like slower music to take in. Check out yahoo music, they have a wide range of christian music.

I really love the band Third Day and especially their Offerings 1 and Offerings 2 CD's. These are truly worshipful and annointed. I feel that I can sing along with them and give God glory.

One of my favorite bands plays secular songs from the 50's through the 90's but they have changed the lyrics to Biblical Christian lyrics. They're called Apologetix and their mission is to reach the lost who might be turned off by traditional "church" music as well as to entertain and edify saints like myself who came to Christ later in life after we had spent enough time joining the unsaved in the pursuit of fulfilling sinful worldly desires.

1 Peter 4:3 For we have spent enough of our past lifetime to accomplish the will of the Gentiles--having walked in wantonness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries. 4 In regard to these, they are surprised that you do not run with them in the same flood of debauchery, reviling you. 5 They will render an account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.

You can find a link to their site in the music section on my Free Stuff page @ http://web.express56.com/~bromar/ and if you sign up for their fan club you can download some of their songs for free. You will also find links for many other Free Christian songs of a more traditional nature. But I have to say that Apologetix lyrics contain the most Bible references and gospel messages than any other band I've heard, hence their name Apologetix (apologetics).
