Original sin was an idea hatched up by Saint Augustine, not so much Jesus or the Bible.
And no you shouldn't be put in jail. Here in America we believe the sins of the father shouldn't taint the child. IE if your dad dies in debt you can't be sent to debtors prison for what he did, which was a big deal in England up until the 20th century.

we are all responsible for our own choices, not our parents. that does include "the original sin." Adam and Eve were kicked out of the garden for a "transgression", after that they were one of Gods best followers. So that ended there. I believe we are here because they were kicked out and it's a good thing. If they never left, they would never have kids. We are differently not responsible for what they did. And at the very lest, the sin was paid for by Jesus (if it was a sin).

I shouldn't answer this question because "original sin" is totally
unacceptable to me. There is NO logic in it. You are obviously wondering, too, or you wouldn't have asked this. Good grief.
What did YOU have to do with your parents being "criminals?"
You're responsible only for your actions, no one else's. & I hope
you're guided by your own moral compass, not fear of damnation
or hope to get into heaven.

I don't understand your question.
"Our dogma does not attribute to the children of Adam any properly so-called responsibility for the act of their father, nor do we say that original sin is voluntary in the strict sense of the word. It is true that, considered as "a moral deformity", "a separation from God", as "the death of the soul", original sin is a real sin which deprives the soul of sanctifying grace."

sigh. original sin is diffrent from what the world conciders wrong.
everyone is born into sin, but sin varies and we dont always have to sin. Me lying to you that your hair looks nice is different from me killing you because it really doesn't. Lying to you would not get me thrown in jail, but killing you would.
and based on you logic, everyone last one should be put in jail!!

Original sin is the lasting effect of mankind's bad decision.
The eternal effect of that decision was to enslave Adam and Eve, as well as all their offspring, to Satan.
As a result, right up through the present day, every human is born alienated from God, dedicated to Satan, flawed by sin, and liable to die.
And since mankind had no ability to overcome, or to redeem themselves, God had to do it for them.
Christ allowed himself to be unjustly put to death by the forces of evil in order to destroy Satan's power over mankind.
That accomplished, it's now possible for any man, through God's church, to reject Satan, to swear faithful allegiance to the one, true, God, and to be saved from Satan, sin, and death.

you are talking two different things. Sin and Crime.
In your followup explanation you're right, the original sin is passed on to children of Adam . while the question you have pertains to parents who commits a felony , and children just can;t be charged the same with their convicted parents

You would really seriously and efficiently study the Bible, not just read it, but a deep thorough study of it to understand the character of God. There are alot of mysteries in the Bible that are meant to be understood by believers only. You must have the Holy Spirit of God dwelling in you for you to get understanding of His Word.
