We went out for about a year and a half. For the past two months we've been trying to figure it out but its going no-where. Don;t want to hurt her in going out too soon. How long is long enough to wait and not have her feel bad?

If you guys brake up on good terms and you are not all crazy emotional, this weekend would be good.

that all depends on if you still have strong feelings for this person or not. If you do give it time, take a break, nothing worse than jumping right back into a relationship. date casually, nothing serious. If it ends badly or you don't have feelings for her/him then jump back into it. it all depends on how you feel about going out with someone else so soon after a break-up. only you know the answer to that. My advice is take it slow and easy nothing serious, and if ya'll have broken up, her feelings shouldn't be a concern of yours. She/he is in your past, and even if you still have a soft spot about that person you cannot let that decide that what you do with your future.

Wait a second... have you told her you don't feel like the relationship is going anywhere? If you have, then you're free to do whatever. I commend you for not wanting to rub salt in the wound but if you feel you're ready to move on, then do so. Just make sure that you have your head on straight so as to not get yourself into an unwelcome situation.

7 months would probably be good.

Sex and the City talks about.. it takes 1/2 the time you two went out to get over eachother.

Not more than extra two months because you must find somebody to celebrate with the New Year 2007.

no matter what, its gonna hurt her. but your relationship with her is in the past. what you do for now on is your life dude. dont make the mistake and try to stay friends with her, cos it will only give her hope that you will get back together. i think there is absolutely nothing wrong with you going out now.

One easy way would be to ask her.The way I would do is to go about my life like it was ...my life. You both made the decision to call it quits. Now ..get on with your life.Just take your new date some-ware she won't see it to soon. Now that would hurt any-body.Go to a place she never goes to.Make the whole thing new..that includes the places you go.

I guess the rule is your suppose to wait at least half the time you were together. So if you were w/ her for 1.5 yrs, then you should wait 8.5 months.
Or when you just feel it's alright to move on......

6 months! Enough time to shed old feelings and a few rebound relationships.

Long enough until you think you found the right girl.
