you need an amp for any sound system, regardles of it's location. The amplifier takes a signal and amplifies it to the level where speakers can audibly play it.

You already have an amp....it's built into your car's stock radio. The purpose of getting an additional external amp is simply to create more power. Better quality speakers are generally optimized to operate with more power than a vehicle's stock speakers. Having more power also allows for more "headroom", which is basically extra stored power. Since music does not always require a constant amount of power (it has loud spots and quieter spots), having more headroom allows for the amp to fully be able to power the speakers at all times. Meaning, if you're playing your music loudly, and the song has a louder spot, headroom would allow for the amp to play louder during that time period.

But the basic jist of this answer is....if you're only using the stock speakers, or even if you get a pair of cheap aftermarket speakers, you probably don't need an external amplifier. If you choose to upgrade your speakers to higher end speakers, or if you want a subwoofer, then you would need an external amp..

Good question! If you want louder sounds and you want your subs to sound louder you need a amp. The amp is like the source of energy that is needed from the speakers to make louder sounds. The amps act as a system that converts something and turns it to another thing. The amp helps your speakers get a louder bass.

An amp powers speakers and subs when the deck cant power it as in doesnt have any more ports. With subs they usually need to amp to run them anyways. For just 2 pair of speakers the deck can power them but if u wanted to add more or a sub to your system then u would need an amp

you dont really need it . it just gives it a bass boost and stock it just thumps a little bass. the stock system that comes with the car is really cheap dont higher it up to high or else you will blow out your speakers.if you dont have a amp then your extra sound speakers wont do nothing.
