your dog might be having anal gland problems - take her to the vet and have them express her anal glands (dog groomers will also do this too). watch to see if your dog is scooting her butt on the ground during various times of the day - that's another sign of anal gland problems. but don't wait too long to have her anal glands expressed b/c anal glands can become impacted and lead to serious infection if they're clogged and you just let them be.

It could be a variety of things. Did you change her diet? Make sure your dog is drinking plenty of water. If she has been constipated for more than two days, don't delay to see your Vet. Your dog could be suffering from colitis which is often confused with constipation. Get her checked out for any anorectal obstructions, your Vet can give her some laxatives.

It can be caused by any number of things just as in humans. You can try giving your dog a teaspoon of Mineral Oil in some wet dog food. The wet/canned dog food will help hydrate the dog which in turn will help move the bowels.
Mineral Oil is sold in any store and is safe. Pediatricians often recommend this for use in human infants as well. We use it in our clinic often. You can give the dog a dose every couple of hours. However, if you haven't had any success by morning then you should see a vet. There could be something more serious going on such as a blockage.

You probably won't believe me and will think I'm kidding but the best way to help is to "match her". As the name suggests you simply take a normal cardboard match and push it into her anus. It's not cruel, we use it all the time on first time show dogs that won't go because they are disturbed being on the grounds. Depending on the size of the dog you may need more than one.

The most common treatment for constipation is a change in diet. If this does not work, a mild laxative may be prescribed. An enema may also be necessary to remove hardened stool which is impacted in the colon.

Please if you would like any more information on pet constipation go to the link I have provided below.

Give it some canned pumpkin. Works like a charm. If it still doesn't poop in another day or so, may need to see a vet.

Get a bottle of Philip's laxative and cut one in half, give it to her, or try some milk of magnesia, one syringe full for every 10 pounds of body weight.
