and whatever kids used to do. The people that went through my 11 year old sons pockets and took his lunch money were grown-ups.. These guys said sorry but my kid needs pampers. I can't figire why my 11-yr-old was responsible for their kid's pampers even if it was true.

"Listener" has some major issues! check out the questions, very weird to say the least! Racial, black, child predators, murders........wonders why her brother tried to have intercourse with her 5 year old daughter?

"The people"? Ask yourself WHO the "people" are?

Yes - unfortunately there are just too many wacko's on the streets these days. Our government can't afford to house them all (either in a sanitorium or a prison). Unfortunately, homeschooling is not necessarily the answer, as they will be unprepared for the real world when they finish with their primary and/or high schooling.

The best solution is to keep them safe by being super watchful (even if they don't like it), and teaching them to keep themselves safe by using self-defense techniques.

As the parent of an 11-year-old myself, I know exactly how you feel!

I don't know that the kids are in danger so much as the media would love to hype us into believing. There always have been, and always will be dangers out there, you just have to be prepared, otherwise you'll just end up living your life out holed up in your computer room asking and answering questions on Y!A becasue you're afraid to leave your house.....

Yes safety is a grave topic this day and age. People have gotten so mean, uncaring even to the point of hurting and damaging children for life. Safety with children now days is having an adult close by every where they go. Even adults must go out in pairs for safety reasons.

I agree that our kids are in danger, but kids have always been in danger. If not from a lynch mob in the pre-civil rights era, a combine accident on a farm, or illness we now have antibiotics for, then maybe a scooter or snowboarding accident. There have always been criminals and bullys. I am sorry to hear about your son though. I hope he wasn't hurt.

It is sad,,, but people have changed,, I am very careful about the safety of mine. Thing have changed so much, there are danger every where. You can't trust anyone any more. I agree with you, and it is a sad place , that our kids are growing up in. People don't fear any thing, don't think they even fear God any more. Good luck, and be as safe as you can.

I live in Eastern KY and it's the bible belt, I'm proud to say I'm not scared to let my children go to school, go to the store run play etc. I dont know where you live, but if that is happening to your child, you need to haul a$$ outta there quickly!

That is not ok, it's not typical, and believe it or not there are safe places to live still in America
