You stay in sticky situations don't you? Try listening and learning for a change. Maybe respecting people. You just may end up a productive member of society. The rate your going your going to end up a loser looking for the wisest answer.

Are you imitating him in the classroom in front of the class? or in front of your locker for a couple of kids? Is it a good imitation?
This depends to a large extent on what the imitation consists of. If it pokes fun at a physical characteristic, such as a stammer, or a palsy, or some sort of infirmity, there is no coverup. You say, "Sorry, sir. I was out of line."
If he cracks jokes in the classroom and you are imitating him in that arena, you could make a joke out of your imitation, and say something like, "Well, one of us just got booted out of the amateur hour." And then you apologize.
If he gets splenetic when he dresses down a student and you are doing your best Hitler-rant imitation of his performance, your best bet is to withdraw from the course and take another subject. You're toast no matter what you do.

Shruti, i dont think that by imitating ur teacher u disrespected him or insulted him.
Imitating someone is also an art which everyone cant do perfectly. So, my advice to u is that u shld just ignore that and in case ur teacher comments u for that in future then u must apologise him.
Ok!!!!!!

I think you are in a position of telling the truth on this one.
You could explain to him you were imitating your favorite teacher, him, doing so in the highest degree of respect.
Then joke saying, "should I erase the chalk board after school today for punishment" or "do I write, "not to imitate my teacher in class," several times?

You more than likely hurt his/her feelings. Nobody likes to be mocked. You should see the professor privately, and apologize and hope he/she has a really good sense of humor. However, remember he/she will not forget the incident. I would try to stay well informed on topics, actively participate in discussions. Make sure you get your assignments in on time. I think this may have taught you a good lesson!

one time i was laughing around with some of my friends in the bathroom and i did an imitation of a machine gun (this was pre-Columbine and all that jazz), and it just so happened that i was pointing my imaginary gun towards the door at the same moment my teacher was walking in, so it looked like i was shooting her down. i was so embarrassed i ran out of the bathroom. i just pretended it never happened, and now that i'm older and i see the teacher again, i figure they think i was just young and messing around with my friends.
just ignore that really embarrassing and awkward feeling and eventually it will pass and you and your teacher will both move on with your lives.

Keep doing it for one more minute and then stop all of a sudden and ask innocently the crowd..i think this much act should be enough to show on UNI/COLLEGE ANNUAL FUNCTION etc etc.

Better to make it a really funny impersonation, so that everyone can laugh, & hope that he/she has a good sense of humour.
I got caught impersonating one of my teachers once, & when I saw that he was killing himself trying not to laugh I kept going until he told me to sit down. So I did, & heard nothing more about it.
