my son was hit in his breastbone by a football. he is hurting really badly.he thought he was having a heart attack.the pain goes into his back and even hit a nerve that hurt him in his tooth.i have no car right now,do you think he needs medical attention?

Take him to the doctor - he needs an XRay to see if the breast bone (sternum) has been torn from the tendons or is broken.
This happened to my son. It is painful.

I would take him if i was you...I got hit in my sternum never had a thought it was fractured, the pain was intense...The fracture took a while to heal. If you see any bruising go now, there is also something else that can be life treating, i could give you the big words but basically it a bruising of the heart, blood builds up and someone can die from this a week after the incident. I have seen this several times when people were involved in a traffic accident...Now i hope your son is ok and more than likey is, but its better to be safe than sorry...Good luck to you both...

He could have cracked his sternum or broke a rib. I would call a friend, a cab, or someone with a car and get a ride to the hospital emergency room and get an x-ray. You wouldn't want him to puncture a lung or have internal bleeding. Your son shouldn't have to suffer unecessarily. Sorry about your car situation.

You should have him checked out by a doctor.
Ask a friend or relative to take you if you can. If not call the hospital and get their advice, if they tell you to come in explain your problem. There is help if you ask and you would not be the first one to ask. Your sons health is more important.

i would say just take some tylenol n sleep it off for a night, n if the pain is that bad u should go see a doctor about it, he could have nerve damage or somthing, its just a guess im not actually that sure

I would probably seek medical attention with pain that sharp and painful it could possibly be something internal you don't want to take any risk

You should have taken him to the hospital right after it happened. He might have a cracked rib or worse!

i would get a neighbor or family member to come and take him (and you if you want to go along) to the doctor to check him out just in case. it might just be a bruise or pulled muscle, but i'd get it checked out anyway.
