If there is a Truth, shouldn't it be self-evident,to everybody, everywhere, without arguement, all the time...How can the Truth have so many conflicting definitions...this makes me think that perhaps if we can argue the subject, at all, it probably isn't a truth to begin with...

I agree. Not only the arguing points but by their own words, the word of God is truth. Therefore if it cannot be prov-en as truth then it isn't the word of God. Those who profess to have this truth do not act God like showing only disgust and repulsion for their fellow man. They judge although their God says that He is the only one to judge. Hypocrisy at it's best.

Nobody can "teach" you what God is. You can certainly learn concrete things about doctrine and history and the ways others define their faith. Sometimes, though, the more "answers" you receive from others, the more you hit a wall in discovering your own faith.

But "learning about God" is all about asking questions. The more questions you ask, the more you will delve. These are questions that only you can answer. There are good people in this world who can help you discover more questions to ask. Sometimes they are hard to find, but worth the looking for.

You mention conflicting definitions. I believe definitions can be different, but not necessarily conflicting.

You know how the more obvious something is, the more people are apt to simply ignore it, not even see it? Thanks be that Truth is something we have to figure out. It's worth the search.

I disagree with you on this one. The reason you can argue about the subject because people are trying to start conflict (which is the devil trying to make you think that way) when you pray to God and ask Him to fill your heart, you will see why people are telling you to read the bible or talk to a priest/preacher. you just haven't found Him yet.... God is right there in your life, your just not letting Him in. Once you let God in your life, you'll see the great changes.... you won't even try to argue about the subject... God bless

wow you definitely need a vacation.
What u need to do is stop searching so desperately for answers when it comes to "GOD" RELIGION AND TRUTH. i know having faith is important but something just can't be explained and the truth isn't always that simple and clear to us.
My philosophy is to live your life to the best you could, to your truth and you'll find your way easily.

Take their advice. Find someone to teach you. Your present chain of logic is missing a few links.

I don't know, maybe you should ask the people who are telling you this.
