Is anyone familiar with the document called the Donation of Constantine? Did you know this was a forged letter by Constantine that "donated" all the land that the Vatican is now on? Vatican City used to be larger, but it had to be reduced do to this.

No. It is not on stolen land. Thats like saying every country around the Mediteranean Sea was stolen from the fallen Roman Empire.

The erroneous "facts" you mention can easily be "documented" from numerous anti-Catholic websites, all of which are merely repeating claims they’ve read from other anti-Catholics without having verified them first. In their zealous hostility against the Church, anti-Catholics often ride roughshod over the most basic historical and theological points, and constant vigilance is necessary to straighten out the facts before you can even begin to address underlying theological errors.

Sorry santosh s, the Vatican does NOT sit on any of the seven hills of Rome, and if you look at a map, the Vatican is on the other side of the Tiber river, not in Rome. So your hate cultists are in error and I hope you haven't wasted any money buying hate books bashing Catholicism with such stupid lies.

That web site given is grossly in error.

The fact that this document is a forgery is not debated by Catholics. The point that that link is trying to make is that the entire doctrine of the papacy hinges on and/or was created due to this forged document. This could not be further from the truth. Anyone who would hold to this belief is either grossly misinformed or just plain dishonest in their portrayal of the Catholic Church and the papacy.

In order for the claims of fordham.edu/halsall/source/ to be true, then the papacy and all evidence of a Petrine Primacy and succession of such must come after 750 – 850 A.D. It then becomes the challenge of Catholic apologists to show that such teachings came earlier. On this webpage we will show definite proof that such evidence does indeed exist and totally discredit anyone who would hold that the "Donation of Constantine" is the basis for the papacy. The dates that this document was supposedly issued was hundreds of years after the death of Constantine.

In 1929, Mouselini deeded the land to the vatican and gave it autonomy. So, no it isn't stolen land.

Hmmm most catholic churches are on "seized" land so to speak. Burn down the old to enforce the new. Awful lot of stolen art in that place too.

God owns all the earth and can allocate as much or as little of it as he sees fit, for the church Jesus founded.

Get a life.
