Definitely. I had no self confidence. Zero. My past was such that I never felt worth love or protection.
I found a good therapist (after a couple of misfires - one with a therapist with whom I couldn't connect at all, another with one who seemed very good and caring - we just didn't seem to be able to communicate).
She helped me come to understand myself better, to put my past in context. I realized that I was stronger than I knew, had already survived a lot. She pointed out where my thinking was on target, and where it was faulty, and where I was listening to the judgement of people who didn't really know what they were talking about.
Understanding why I thought the way I did helped me figure out what to do about it. I can't say I'm a tower of confidence today, but I'm more confident, and realize that I'm worthy of love, respect and loyalty. I've left relationships that left me feeling used, not respected, and/or not loved, and surrounded myself with a small group of people who know and love me as I am.
It took time, but I figure I was going to live that same amount of time anyway, and this way, I have something to show for it!

No, it's all about your mindset. Thinking negatively can lead you down a dark path. Find completeness with your past & leave your past there. Realize that you should live in the moment (not living out of your past or future). You can choose to be happy & enjoy your life. Whatever it is making you feel that you don't deserve to be loved, is just a story you've made up on your own. Maybe something happened that caused the story to be made up; but realize that it's just something you've told yourself & it's not true! Live for the moment & get complete with your past. Love yourself & you will deserve to be loved.

Never, I always believed that there is someone for everyone and even when you misbehave, its in You to change and be better. Lack of Love is not a punishment or a result of ones actions.

I did but someone told me how much god loved me and that I am forgiven for anything I have done. So if he loves me I know I'm special enough that there is someone out there
