here is what I would write if I had the assignment that you have..I would write "Heavenly Father, I lift your name up high, I know that you had a plan for my husband and he was certainly seeking you and doing your will at the time of his death, I am sure that he is in your hands and seated with you at your table now, I thank you for the impact that he made on mankind, he loved people and so he went forward and did your will even though he knew it would cost him his life, I pray Dear God that you would send others to continue where he left off, so that we will finally see a day where all people treat each other as equals, I pray that you help me as you know that even though I am at peace I will miss him, I give you praise for Martins life, he was truly a man after your heart. In the name of Jesus Amen"..anyway something to that nature try to imagine Martin as your husband and how would you feel that might help you to write the prayer...good luck

How about starting it out "O Heavenly Father...." and then mentioning something about these passages from the Bible.
Isaiah 57:1 The righteous man perishes, and no one lays it to heart; devout men are taken away, while no one understands. For the righteous man is taken away from calamity; 2 he enters into peace; they rest in their beds who walk in their uprightness.
1 Thessalonians 4:14 For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. 15 For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.

Well, it depends on whether or not you believe in the Lord or not. My husband and I pray with our children every night. Sometimes we begin with Dear Lord or Tonight we'd like to thank you....

our father who art in heaven, hollowed be thy name, thy kindom come, THY WILL BE DONE, here on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, forgive us our trespasses, as WE SHALL FORGIVE THOSE THAT TRESPASS AGAINST US, for thine is the will, and the kingdom, forever and ever, amen.
