I checked 5 or 6 different software titles, and found the most convenient to use ProShow Gold (from Photodex). I found there everything I need to get attractive and easy to create show. Among its features:
1. Can mix images with movies (AVI).
2. Multiple output formats, including executing file (exe), so the person can review the show on PC without program itself, DIVX, DVD, VCD, SVCD, etc.
3. Can handle big files. My last show was more than an hour length.
4. Easy add titles to the slides.
5. Multiple transition and motion effects.
6. Easy to edit images already planted in the show.
7. Convenient operation with voice, video file basic audio can be completely removed, or it can mix with additional audio.
8. Burning DVDs with no additional software.
9. Multiple shows can be planted to the same DVD.
10. Easy to understand and operate.
I am using the software release 2.0.1571. And I am sure it is not the latest one.
Good Luck.

Well....the simple soultion would be Powerpoint (MS Office), or iPhoto (if it's an Apple computer, since you didn't feel like telling us what kind of computer you have). Any movie editing program can do this too (such as Windows Movie maker which comes free with Windows XP).

When I got my Dell Laptop it had a "Windows Movie Maker" which has done wonders, it truly is amazing! If you have a Mac, they also have a movie maker. If you don't need that much special effects, Powerpoint does just fine.

I vote for Microsoft Power Point. It's much easier using that program. it has animation, slide shows, and you can add pictures if you want.;
