the ones from petsmart are okay for dogs. the only bones you need to worry about is those that are cooked, in perticular cooked chicken bones. Those that are cooked can break into splinters and sharp points. That is what can damage your dog. As long as they aren't cooked, he should be okay. However, do take it away from him if it oversized from time to time. The safest chew things that i've seen are Kongs. They are strong enough for the strongest chewer (I have three of them) and last for a long time.

Bones are okay. Good for teeth and jaw excercise.
It helps with tartar build up. I usually give bones 2 times a month to my dogs. I go to the grocery and get soup bones with the marrow- this is good for them, and entertains them for a long while too. PLUS much less expensive at the grocery- 2-3 dollars for 3-4 bones.

Chewing is very good for his teeth, & gives him an enjoyable activity. (It keeps them out of trouble!) I would always supervise them, though, when they chew bones, because they can break off a piece the wrong way. My lab mix had surgery on his throat & ever since then he has trouble with those chew bones - and almost choked on one of them once.

For a large dog he needs to get aggresion out bones are good for thta and it has flavor so it gives him a treat. If he chews them constantley it can hurt, even chip his teeth, so take it away somtimes.

Yes, just regulate how many he gets a day. Good choice in dogs! I love hunting breeds. They are energetic and great companions. Bones actually can help them keep their teeth clean, plus they get to have fun burying them.

yes it is...it is good for their teeth. Raw bones such as chicken necks are great for dogs to chew on. Good for their diet too.
