My beagles used to do the exact same thing, usually with flip chips.

lol my dog does the same thing.. she is a terrior. My vet told me it's just their nature, and since they are inside dogs and cant actually bury the treat they will pretend that they are...
When they go to put it back when you move it it's like you got into their territory and want it in that one spot.. eventually if you move it enough times they will find somewhere else to hide it.
Note: after a day or so they will find it and eat it so you don't have to worry about yucky treats laying around!

Oh man, my weimaraner does this too and it cracks me up every time. She loves to go hide her toy, usually under a rug, in her bed, in our bed, the laundry, anywhere she can really wedge it in, and then she will leave it for about 30 seconds and come back and find it. Eventually she feels she's hidden it in just the right place and will leave it there for awhile. Finally, she will find it again and if it's her rawhide she will chew on it for a long time, like it tastes better now that it's been hidden for awhile. I love the whole "head nudge" thing, too. Once I accidentally sat on a chair that her toy was wedged into and she head nudged me right off that chair so she could protect her precious belonging. Dogs are just so fun!

My beagle would actually push them between the cushions of the couch and pretend he was digging them back up to find them. You have to remember this is a dog trait and dogs will be dogs.

I think this is small dog behavior, my Yorkie used to do it and now my MinPin does it and sometimes she actually buries things under cushions or covers, reach under a pillow and you never know what you'll find!

My dog does that all the time with just about any toy or treat she can get a hold off.
The best one is the treat she gets from the teller at the bank. She sends it in that little tube. Cassidy hates the treats but she always gets excited to get them. She never eats them- she "buries" them in the backseat. Occasionally I have to clean out my car just to get rid of the dog biscuits.

Our miniature dachshund does that all the time!
He buries his treats in the laundry room in the dirty clothes piles that I have sorted out to wash! I find his stuff all the time! LOL

No. I have had several dogs do that. I just thought it was a trait of small dogs. My poodle used to hide chips in my laundry basket and my little Maltese hides hers in the guest rm. bed.
