He had vomit & diarrhea starting 10:30 Thursday night. She came to town Saturday noon and got sick Sunday at 1pm. My son puked all over me, and all over the bathroom I had to clean up after, yet I didn't get it. AND he shared a breathing-treatment mask with his sister just a few hours before he got sick, yet she didn't get it either. Just grandma. Did he really give it to her or is it coincidence?

...For some reason it's really important to her to say he gave it to her (he's 3 years old and does it really matter that much!? please!!!) I just wonder, if it was THAT strong, why didn't she get it sooner AND why didn't sis or I get it???

viral gastroenteritis(intestinal flu) is often mistakenly called stomach flu but it is not cause by the influenza virus & does not infect the stomach. It is also not caused by bacteria or parasites.
People can become infected without having any symptoms(they are known as "carriers") & they can still spread the infection(this is probably the case with you & sis). This happens with epidemics. A lot of people don't know they are carriers & go here, there & every where & are infecting a large number of people.
Symptoms appear 4-48 hours after exposure to the virus & last for 1-2 days but symptoms can last up to 10 days. Even after symptoms are gone, the virus can still be found in the stool up to 2 weeks later. Of course, antibiotics are not effective against viral infections.
Unfortunately, older people are more susceptible to flus, colds, bacterial infections, etc.
I agree that grandma is making a mountain out of a mole hill. It doesn't matter that he gave it to her. I think she is feeling lousy & it's easier to blame her sickness & crabbiness on the little tyke! Besides the fact that she wants you to feel some what guilty for your child making her sick! There is also a chance that grandma was exposed to a virus or "bug" before arriving. Unfortunately, there's no way to prove that, so your son gets to take the blame. Lysol the heck out of everything & make sure everyone is washing their hands thoroughly with soap & very warm water(helps stop the passing of the virus!). But disinfect & disinfect some more!
No matter what you say or do, your son is ging to be the "culprit" in this escapade!
Hope this helps!

There are specific anti-bodies present in each persons blood stream that fight specific conditions. It is possible that you and your daughter have already had this strain (or similar) of virus and have, therefore, built-up an immunity to this virus. If you'll notice, you are probably running a higher-than-normal body termperature (less than one degree higher) and this would be due to your body's natural defense. You and your daughter, most likely are carrying the virus right now, however your body has already faught its major battle. While your mother has not. This is one possibility.

It shouldn't be important for you to say that because you simply don't know whether she got it from him or not. If one person is tested as having a viral infection and the other a bacterial, then one probably did not get it from the other. Maybe she made a mistake like contacted his mouth while feeding him and neglected to wash her hands before using them to eat.

At any rate, think about the future, get toothbrush sanitizers. amazon.com has the Germ Terminator. There are other options too. If you find one that you think is better, maybe mail me about it. :))

Elderly people and very young children naturally have weaker immune systems.

If that's what it takes to make her happy, fine. Just let her believe your sweet baby made her sick.

It's possible. Older people are more susceptible to illnesses. But why is she making a big deal out of it? He couldn't help it and he sure didn't do it on purpose. Just let her rant.

Most viruses don't show signs that quickly. Sometimes maybe 2 weeks before the symptoms show.
