Slightly bad. The burned charred bits supposedly have carcinogenic properties to it. I really don't think it matter unless you eat burnt bbq everyday or even once a week. Carbon itself is not carcinogenic. Everything is carbon based. Its something else in it. But I could believe this is just more crap pushed by antismoking groups which got piggybacked onto bbq (because meat supposedly is murder)

Actually, I have heard just the opposite. I heard that charred food contains carcinogens, so you should cut the charred part off. I don't know if it's really true, though.
