hubby has been fighting a "linear" rash (looks like cuts) on penis for two weeks. it had almost cleared up with antibacterial salve, then appeared again. yesterday he was fine and the next second he was ill. low grade (100) temp and said his kidneys hurt. I am puzzled as to what it could be.
it started a day after he used powder (it was very hot outside).
could the antibacterial salve caused an upset in his kidneys?
he says it does not hurt when he urinates. he is also not circumsized.

thanks for your mature answers!

Did he have any blister looking lesions before the linear rash or any inflammation of the lymph nodes in the groin? About the only problem that I can think of that would cause a 1) rash on the penis, with 2) fever and 3) refered pain to the back or kidneys would be Herpes. This does not mean that he has been unfaithful as this virus can lie dormant for years. Also I also know a lady who contracted herpes on their finger from touching someones oral fever blisters, and then transfered it to her husband. Don't touch the lesions until you get it correctly diagnosed by a physician, take him immediately because it is difficult if not impossible to diagnose correctly unless active.

Buy some TEA TREE oil put several drops in about a cup of warm water clean the area around the penis with this. If you can purchase some Tea tree lozengers take these as well if his kidneys are causing pain buy some URAL from the local chemist drink plenty of water. Hope this helps.

Please seek the advice of a medical professional who can perform a complete exam. That's is your best and only option. No one in this forum can complete the assessment needed to accurately diagnose or treat this problem. There is especially a concern if the kidneys are involved.
Sorry I couldn't be more help.
Hope everything turns out well for you and your hubby.
Until you get to the doctor, you may seek more information on WebMD, but please avoid self diagnosis or any more self treatment.

he should see a doctor or a urologist.
I was taught a fever = infection the body is trying to fight off.

Good Luck
