Monotremes are mammals that lay eggs instead of giving birth to live young like marsupials and placental mammals. To the best of my knowledge, all living monotremes are in Australia.

Monotremes are mammals that lay eggs for reproduction instead of giving birth to live young. They are exclusively from Australia. The two types on earth now are the duck-billed platypus,and the spiny ant-eater, also known as the echidna.
