Unfortunately there are no cures for migraines. Only prevention and treatment of the symptoms. To prevent migraines you have to consider not just a drug approach, but a diet approach as well. Stay away from cheese, nuts, red meat, and red wines. I'm sure there are a lot of other foods out there with additives in them that could trigger migraines. Medicinal ways to prevent migraines should also be considered. You would have to see a doctor for a prescription and if you do you may want to ask him for either Topamax, Inderal, or even Elavil. Cymbalta is also used in situations like this. Once you have a migraine, and God help you if you do, you can take a number of medicines and try a number of things to help you. Eating something light, drinking coffee for the caffeine, things like that. Cafergot, Wygraine, Imitrex are all migraine medicines that are not narcotics or habit forming. Good luck

Jury is still out on anything preventive. The best for cure for acute, ie. migraine that one has at the moment are the triptans, eg. Imitrex, Zolmig, Maxalt, etc. Also, look at some of the foods you eat and try to weed out what may do it. One of the biggest culprits is MSG. About 90% of Migraneurs have MSG as a trigger and it is in alot of our canned soups and broths. Check your labels.

My doctor told me to press my fingers to wherever the pain was most severe and hold it there for about a minute. Do that about 3 or 4 times. If that doesn't work, you might need to get the doc to give you some migraine medication, depending on how often you get it and how many other symptoms you get along with the headache. <*)))><

You may think that this sounds silly but, when I get a migraine, I always eat a piece of bread. All I can tell you is it feels like it absorbs it. Sorry I can't be of more help. When that doesn't work, I use those eye patches that you keep in the fridge. That will do the trick!

Do you get sparkles in your vision before you get a migrane? If your eyesight is effected by a halo of sparkles or you're sensitive to light, this can be a warning of oncoming headaches. Take 400 to 600 mg of ibuprophen and a 20 minute nap (if you can) as soon as you notice a change in vision. This can prevent the onset of a migrane. Migranes are easier to avoid than to cure.

See a neurologist.

There are prescriptions to PREVENT migraines, and to stop the attacks once they start.

I take 5 mg of Zomig (zolmytriptan) once the headaches start, and it very seldom fails.

Freeze a wet rag in the freezer, and lay it on your temple, or the back of your neck.

Stay in a very dark, very quiet, well-ventilated room. Try to relax, and to sleep.

Sometimes decongestants help.

Fresh, hot, coffee helps, too. The caffeine.

My Dr. told me to take an over dose of vitamin B-2 Riboflavin. I take 4 pills threw out the day (all with meals) and this has significantly helped me! I still get them once in a while, but not as often or as severe. Anyway, you should go see a neurologist if you can, they are the experts!

an immetrx injection can help- Maybe place your hand in hot water, it makes the blood vessels in your head contract and it gives some relief to some people, but there is absolutely no cure.My husband has had them for thirty years and been to many doctors. He has tried everything anyone suggested.

This doctor from New York told me to always use Advil for a headache instead of Tylenol. He said that Advil relieves inflammation & that Tylenol doesnt. If I get dehydrated I get bad headaches. Make your doc keep a check on your potassium-magnesium-chloride & sodium levels. If any of these get just one number below normal on me I get headaches.
