I realize there is a lot of heckling from all sides of the athiest-theist spectrum. But Christianity sets a high standard for Christian behaviour, including no heckling.

Certainly it would be atrocious behaviour to heckle someone who is -not- sane. Laughing at another's illness makes no sense except to the very sadistic amongst us.

But for Christians to heckle a sane person who rejects your faith...does not appear very Christ-like.

So why is there so much of it here at Y!A R&S?

You're really beating this sanity thing to death. Get over it. We share our faith.

We Christians are sinners. That's why we need Christ. We never said that we were perfect, only forgiven.
Also, exactly what do you mean by heckling? I mess with a lot of the people on here in good fun. We trade barbs. Do you think that Atheist are free to ask all sorts of derogatory questions but Christians are supposed to be perfect gentlemen and ladies? Are we supposed to be void of feelings and never be hurt? Where do you guys get this stuff? Are you insane?
Sorry couldn't resist!! lol

A better question is, why is there heckling coming from either side of this belief?

I would say that a person who claims to be a christian but insults those who believe differently is a christian in name only.

And when it comes from the athiest/ agnostic side, it leads me to question your maturity.

Heckling and name calling should not enter into this forum from any direction.

Bleh, why do so many Sane atheists heckle christians?

Look at this forum and dare to tell me that never happens. I'll try not to scoff.

The reason why people heckle non-christians is because they believe they have a life changing truth and they want to share it. They can't understand why someone would be unhappy with something that give them so much personal peace.

And seriously, the same could be said of non-christians who want to lead christian believers out of a dogmatic belief.

Lemme post the opposite of your question. It's fair.

But as for me, if you don't want to know the fullfillment of God's eternal love and salvation...well, your loss.

Who is the judge of whether a person is sane or not? What qualifies a person to make that judgment? Who is qualified to judge what is or is not Christ-like? And what will you do if you find out that rejecting faith in Jesus Christ isn't sane?
And here's one more: What if your perception of "heckling" is really the expression of someone's concern for your eternal soul?

I agree with your point: such behaviour is unChristlike. I haven't seen any heckling yet, but then, I don't live on the internet.

Unfortunately, I have seen a lot of crass heckling against people of faith here, from atheists. It really makes the atheist group look bad.

I disagree - I've been on this forum for several weeks now and have witnessed much more abuse and disgraceful antics from atheists, agnostics and evolutionists, towards all religious faiths, especially Christians.
My theory is that since most Christians do not fight back that they are seen to be easy targets.
When many Christians on this forum give sensible and sensitive answers that reflect their faith, they are ridiculed and put down as if they are nothing....
Apparently those who choose not to believe have decided among themselves that no-body's opinion but their own is valid.

A few Christians attempt to be Christ-like, but not very many. I don't think Christians can heckle non-believers, because the former are on very thin ground and are apt to tie themselves into knots.

All christian and atheist questions merely opt to be circled and also you get your answer... Why carry out a touch christians experience the opt to objective to rework me? once you've such little faith you want to cajole others, then perchance you want to go and skim the bible.. Im satisfied being a non believer.. There are as many "stupid" questions coming from christians as there is coming from atheists...

I don't feel I heckle anyone - I hope not. You have that choice to reject Christ. Everyone has a choice. We just give advice I guess - we are preaching the Word, in and out of season. Blessings.

You seem a little obsessed with sanity. Why are you mixing mental health with Christianity? I mean, spirituality is one resource that can sometimes lead to a mentally healthy approach to life, but you're raising the sanity question with such fervor & redundancy, I'm starting to get a bit worried about you.
