If you can't afford to take her to the vet, at least, call the vet. Many of them are actually concerned with the welfare or animals and not just making money. It's possible they would look at your sick kitty for free or at a reduced price. Since your cat has had trouble giving birth, it's a very good idea to have her spayed so this won't happen again with a less than ideal outcome.

She should be actively laboring and giving birth about every 20-30 minutes. If the 1st kitten was deformed enough for you to think it was a rat (with a placenta) then she is probably not going to have an easy time of it. You need to stay with her, pet her, keep her calm. Don't move her. She will begin rythymic purring before she births again, you can help her once the kitten comes out by breaking the sac aroung the kitten and placing it in front of her so that she gets the idea to begin cleaning it. Instinct should kick in, she will bite off the umbilical cord and eat the placenta. If she does not and you are not squeamish, you need to break the cord for the kittens and rub them with a towel to dry and stimulate them. If she labors for an extended period (2 hours or more) is bleeding a lot, or becomes lethargic, you are going to have to take her to the vet or she will die. email jelipps@yahoo.com if you have more questions.

If you truly love your cat, I would take her to the SPCA the first thing in the morning. I had a cat that has a stillborn kitte,.She was x-raxed anty found there were others inside and said she'd need an abortion of those kittens and they'd spay her. That is costly so call around for a low cost vet. It sounds like your cat has an infection of some sort and could be dying. I would take her to the emergency clinic and say you found her;and they will likely help her, but you will have to give her up for adoption if you do this, but hey will tell you if she can be saved or not. It's emotionally hard, but if the can prolong her life, it will be worth it.It's tough saying you just found her in your garage.Female cats can get pregnant as early as 6 months,so always spay and neuter your cat. There are places out there that do it low cost..Your story just reminds us all of responsibility for a cat

Sometimes a cat can have a first litter with a runt. Do not take the kitten away from the mother. They are born with a placenta around them and the mother eats it off and the kitten will start to move. If she has them too close together I have had to clear the face to get them air. She will have the kittens maybe an hour apart or 3 mins apart. Let nature take its course. If she has a litter by morn all is good if not see if a vet will help you for low or no cost.

you should try and bring her to the vet, there could be something really wrong with her,if not lightly with the palm of your hand press up on her stomach and c if u feel any hard lumps or anything moving,I'm sorry about your problem, best thing to do is at least call the vet and see if there's anything they can do for you! BIG HUGS!

the only way to really kno if she had any more kittens in her is an x-ray...if she is in active contractions and is not producing kittens after about 2 hours then i would get her to the vet...but if she is not actively pushin and it has been less than 6 hours then i wouldnt worry...if she still has yet to produce kittens after 6 hours get her to the vet quickly

Call a vet immediately, get their advice on the phone, they will not charge you for a phone call. Tell them your financial situation, they will be able to refer you or recommend what to do.
