Like sometimes I reallllllly want to, then sometimes I want to but I just dont feel like it. Why all of a sudden do they just come on? I cut my shoulder all up tonight because I just had to...it was just an unexplainable need to cut myself. It barely bled and I put medication on it and now you cant even see it. But why? Why all of a sudden? I know I'm going through depression... But if I dont cut myself when I want to, I start to shake and go vrazy because I know I cant. I'm only 13..but still...

My child you may be bi-polar. I have a friend who was like that. It's not your fault. You were born with a chemical imbalance. The good news you can get medication to help you. Other signs of being bi-polar are: extreme emotions-very happy or very sad, suicidal thoughts which may include planning on how you will do it and how you want your funeral to be-in detail, a strong sexual drive, paranoia, panic attacks, depression and getting angry for no good reason. You may not be bi-polar but if you experience one or more of the symptoms above and the cutting then you must see a doctor as soon as possible. Talk to your parents and tell them in a way that they will understand that cutting yourself is a uncontrollable urge. Be honest with them and your doctor and you will receive the treatment you need to get better. It's OK honey. You are not alone and thousands of people have the same problem. You are not crazy or disturbed. You just need the attention that everyone deserves ... to be heard. Good luck.

Honey you really need to talk to someone abou this. I know how difficult it is, and let me tell you it isn't something that is just going to go away, expesially if you are feeling depressed. I cut for about 8 years on and off, expessially during high school. It was tough, and I couldn't talk to my parents or anything.
If you can talk to your parents, talk to them. If you can't you need to talk to a school counselor or someone about how you are feeling.
Just know that school counslers are mandated by law to let your parents know about behavior such as that. So if you don't feel comfortable talking about the cutting, at least talk about some of the feelings you are having ok?
Good Luck!

Some things I found worked sometimes
drawing 'cuts' on my arms with a red marker
snapping a rubber band on my wrist
drawing
punching a punching bag or pillow
going for a walk
screaming in a pillow
ripping something to shreads (newspapers, old books)
writing

Sometimes the feeling is unbearable, I get that, just try to distract yourself if you can!

ok...first of all, i was going through this not too long ago and am recovering slowly now...and in my case, it got so bad that i was considering suicide. i did not tell my parents and did not tell a counselor. i saw no therapist...in my case that would have only made my life harder. what i did was this: i realized that God cared about me. that was it...and know this, God would not have you her on this earth if you were not worth something to someone!! please do not let yourslef slide any further into depression!! i am one of the few who know how much it hurts!! if you are still having problems, tell someone that you would trust with your live!! what helped me most after realizing i had a purpose on this earth and praying to God for the strenght to get me through was telling my two best friends. i begged and pleaded with them not to tell anyone, and they were true to their word and have stayed silent. it was the best feeling in the world to be able to talk to someone without being judged or betrayed!! in other words, if you are having problems take action right now and pray to God... 1.) realize he put you here on this earth for a reason and you have a purpose!! 2.) tell the person in your life that you trust the most...it is the best thing for you...better than any therapist is your best friend <3 you...my name is Chenoa and i am a 14 year old christian...email or im me if you would like to share stories...

Before you do more damage that can't be restored see a doctor immediately. There is no real reason to be cutting yourself up. Life is much too short for that kind of carrying on. You really do need help there are alot of us here who want to see you get well.

sounds like someone needs to go on zoloft. Just kidding. My friend once had the urge to jump off a four story window, but then again, she was also drunk...

Come on, you're only thirteen andmaybe you're just really stressed about something that doesn't need to be stressed about. Take it from an avid perfectionist, you can do so much more when your arms are not screwed up and scarry.

best of luck

I know you don't want to see a doctor but this isn't something
you can get help for here at Answers. You need to accept the
fact you need help and see a professional. Despite what others
might think,it's not a sign of weakness to recognize this problem
and deal with it. Good luck.

Depression hurts, and by cutting yourself the pain inflicted by the cut replaces the pain of depression, also the cut is a badge of sorts, a visual aid that lets every one know you are in pain, you hide yours but it is a reminder to you. Get help, you are screaming for it and don't even know it.

I was once a cutter myself and I know how that feels. For me when I couldn't I would feel worse. Its kind of like a drug, it makes u feel better when u do it and when u cant u feel worse. i would talk to someone you know about it and then get into some counseling.
*I know you don't want to but you really should because it gets worse if you don't.*

Normally it's an outward way to express inner pain, you ought to talk to a shrink
