I received a ticket on Sept. 8th. Had it not been school zone hours, I would have been under the speed limit... nonetheless, I was careless and deserved the ticket. Ok, so I saved up the money to pay the ticket, but when I went to pay it, today, they said they had no record of it and could not process a payment for me.

The lady telling me this had to consult another coworker, and he said that, although it SHOULD have posted by now, the ticket probably hadn't been entered into the system, yet. The ticket needs to be paid by October 3rd.

The lady told me to call every day to see if the ticket had been put into the system, yet. I am extremely worried that somehow this is going to wind up as a warrant for my arrest for not dealing with the ticket. But I'm trying to deal with the ticket. So, any advice what I should do?

It'd be great if I didn't HAVE to pay, but honestly, that's not realistic.
I live in San Antonio. Thanks.

Neddie, good idea, I'll do that.

There is a court date, but since I'm pleading guilty, it's a lot easier, jobwise (so I don't have to leave early), to just go to one of the city branch offices and pay the fine.
I called today, and they said the ticket was entered in today, so now I just have to go again to pay it. The good news is, I don't have to go all the way downtown to deal with it.
Am busy with tutoring and teaching.. will return and choose best answer tomorrow.
Thanks to all!

The idea about finding the name of the officer on the ticket is the best route to go. When you call, just tell him/her that you are trying to pay your ticket, but the clerk said it was not in the system yet. Maybe the officer will have a better idea of why the ticket isn't in there yet. And having read plenty of your very supportive answers on here, I know that you were polite and respectful to the officer, so I'm sure that he/she will be more than happy to help you figure it out.

It's possible that it's as simple as the ticket falling between the seats of the patrol car and being forgotten. It sucks, but it happens.

I hope you get it all figured out and worked out. And let me just take this opportunity to say thank you, scruffycat, for all the appreciation and support you give to the police officers on here. It means a lot to know that there are people out there who really do appreciate us and the work we do.

How silly---tell them to make a record of the fact that you came in and wanted to pay the ticket.

They have computers, don't they?? They have post-it notes, don't they?? San Antonio?? Really! I highly doubt this would have been lost in the system, but I would have them sign a note on your COPY of the ticket--your "pink" copy, which you should have, and tell them that you attempted to pay it--or else have them sign something and make a RE-ATTEMPT to pay it--you had the money ONCE, correct??

Then jot down everytime you have called and document this as well....Then I would call the district attorney in your area and say that you have tried to make attempts on your part to pay your ticket and it has been unsuccessful. If it comes down to it, you can always SUBPOENA your phone records to show that you have made an HONEST attempt to do this.

HOWEVER---if a warrant is issued for your arrest---I would SUE the butts off of them and pull up the VIDEO of you going in there ( surely there would be evidence of this--IF you did go in there) and also your phone records.

okee dokee toots??? :-) Good luck!! And slow down by the kids

I got a ticket recently, completely electronic, and it posted in 5 business days. I only had 14 days to pay it.

They do get lost at times, or at the department the officer forgot to turn it in, he saw he made a mistake on it and just threw it out.

Also you should have your copy, if you don't pay is there not a date to report to court ?
