Just to let you know, I never give a thumbs down. Not when these responses come from the heart, as all of yours do.

Bereft of the ability or will to overcome an obstacle whether it be mental, physical, emotional, environmental or imaginary. Adrift, unbalanced, confused, conflicted and unfinished. When someone is lost, they are lacking something that completes them and shapes thier character... into a confident individual who always knows where they stand and is never lost because they are always grounded, centered, optimistic and determined to prevail against all odds. Those who are lost have given up hope of resolving a problem and cannot see a brighter future. To me no matter what the circumstances you are never lost unless you accept defeat and give up hope of finding your way to a better place..... I would ultimately define "lost" as hopelessness.

Mr. Duchovny,
Lost: an attitude. The lack of knowledge. The moment where someone accepts the loss of familiar territory, or unfamilliar surroundings.

Being without the necessary information, tools, or background for resolving a problem.

The attitude of being lost tends to lead one to believe that they need help to get out of the problem, that they cannot remove the condition without help.

Lost.

1) Not knowing where you are.

2) Not knowing who you are.

3) Not knowing what you are.

"You" in each of these definitions is partly defined by the surrounding environments.

Ugh. I hate that word.

My sister ran away when she was 15. For weeks she was lost.

Lost to me implies alone, unprotected, vulnerable, in danger.

Lost gives me a terrible knot in my stomach. I remember thinking at any given moment that anything could be happening to her, she might be murdered or hurting and if I just knew where she was I could help her. But not knowing, I was helpless to do anything but search and worry.

Lost is a terrible word.

Alone, abandoned, without love, without direction. With too much love as in losing sense of worth, respect, dignity or belief in one's ability to exsist without another. That's about as lost as one can get. I know, I am there..............

The loss of the desire for wisdom, absolute faith in something without looking at any alternative. When one is like this they have become lost in their pride.

How I would feel without my children. My kids are my roadmap -- I look at them and I see where I need to go to help them be the people they were meant to be; to be an example to them. They give me focus and direction.
