I have 2 sons of my own. My step-son is 7 years old. His real mother also has two younger children, one she adopted out already. She had kept my step-son from contact with his dad for the past two years until she decided we could 'have' him for the next 2 yrs! Out of the blue.
Since we have had him for 3 months now, she has only called about 3 times, the last time she called was to talk to my fiance to ask him to borrow money, we told her no and she hasnt called back since! We would like to get full custody and let her have visitation rights if she chooses. Is that possible and how would we go about it? We live in CA and she is somwhere in MI. No one has really heard from her since about a month ago. My step-son has told his family member on her side that he 'hates' his mother more than once, what can we say to him to let him know that he shouldnt feel that way, also?
Thanks for any suggestions. And for reading this.

to the custody of your step son ask help from a lawyer.

i don't know why he hates his mom maybe he thought he was abandoned by her mom. with this try to consult psychologist/psychiatrist to help you how to handle this kind of situation and to help him to be a better person when he grow up.

She sounds a little dicey, doesn't she? At any rate, it should be easy enough to get custody of your stepson. Go to a lawyer and have him draw up the paperwork for the courts. I don't see a problem getting custody of the child with his mother's history, but you never know. An attorney can help you iron out all the kinks.
Good luck and I hope it works out for you and the child.

The fact that she is an absentee mother and that her son doesn't like her is working for you. Get a good lawyer and start the proceedings now because it could be a lengthy process, especially if she ends up fighting you on it.

yes you and your fiance can get custody.you have to find a family lawyer and go to court about it.once you get a lawyer and file the papers then some one will bring them papers to her door and in them papers it will say when a court day is and why you and your fiance is bringing her to court.now it may be a lot of going to court and stuff and it may cost some money but it is worth ever penny knowing that he is safe will you guys and are happy.i live in va and i know here that if a kid is a certain age then when they go to court the judge will ask the kid who he wants to live with.thats in va i am not sure about ca.i hope i answer your question.

"do you word any problems with this procedure?" Yeah. "the human ability to trust in God contained in the absence of information may itself characterize information for the existence of God." yet people, without information, believed the Earth to be flat. babies trust contained in the tooth fairy. some adults trust(d) contained in the Abrahamic God, others in Vishnu, Anubis, and Aphrodite. it truly is the most sturdy flaw. The others are something that varies relying on personality.
