according to recent population recordings, the latin community (this is excluding the illegal immigrants) is growing to such a degree in america, that one day, it will be the most populous one

when this happens, how exacly will you view america? i feel very sad for those of you who will look down apon it, because if you ask me, i think hispanics could run america just as well as anyone else.

we have faced the same bloodshed for this country. remember the alamo? we were there fighting on the american's team as well.

when someone tells me this is america, i should know, because i am mexican. growing up, i had always wondered why the government insisted on slapping the lable "mexican-american" on my people

then it occured to me that we were regarded as "different" and that america is not completely the land of the free unless we are all viewed as "american" and not seperated on the fill in the bubble sheet

we are americans too. how do you of us in office? running america?

i'm telling you to exclude the illegal immigrants in this question. prentend for a momment the do not exist

think about an america run by legal mexicans and hispanics

and if we really did demand a seperate lable, then why lable the "african-americans?" why lable the "asians" and the "Pacific islanders," the "whites" and the "netive americans?"

and fairydust....

i tell you this is america. a group of peoples from all places. you tell us to fit in, yet when our communities try to, we are only rejected as "illegals" as you have done, or "lawbreakers" as so many people do

we did not all get here by that way. don't hate our people because of the portion who came here illegaly and for that matter, don't hate anyone, because hate is the only evil that exists on earth, and from that branches off many other evils.

mojomanna4...

this is exacly what i say to you. that we are regarded as "different"

you call us different, yet you tell our people to assimilate. well i ask america in a bold voice: how can we assimilate when people like the person i am adressing continuously call us different

how can we feel american when we bubble in our sheets as "hispanics?"

and what do i call myself, when i have people screaming at me that i am mexican from one angle, american from another, hispanic from yet another, and oone offensive angle that lables me a *******/****?

carol r,

very well put. i see that you are america. i am america. we are all america together.

people that judge based on the outside are not ameica. america stands for freedom.

i believe that freedom includes the freedom from a person's prison of discrimination, hate, and stereotypes.

To be honest with you, Most of the " latin" community are illegal immigrants.
Hispanics have their own country of origin and they should be running their own countries.
Would you like to shoulder the 68 billion dollars that the illegals cost the government per year?
No, i do not feel comfortable with a percentage of mexicans who jump borders and sneak into America, running america.
Also, most hispanic, latin, mexian countries can't even feed themselves, Why on eath would America feel comfortable with people from countries that cannot even feed themseleves being in office.

To me that is as crazy as letting islamics terroism run for office.

Sorry.

How did they know who was legal and who wasn't. Does it also show hordes of illegals are having kids not plan kids but kids to keep themselves here? As long as Hispanics have the highest drop out rate of any race how will you advance with uneducated people who are only living for the moment at best you will have a world of mexicans who never plan for the future, who always thought government aid would roll in forever at some point these 20-30-40 will age their health will start failing . Mexicans cannot even do anything to better Mexico Now you have hispanics as the only ones who can do. 180 million other people here what are they doing? All Mexicans complain about America but nobody is in a hurry to leave

Very well said. As a cauacasian, I have no fear of an African American politician, or an Asian, or a Hispanic...or any ethnic group. What matters to me is how each candidate plans to make a difference. If all they are worried about is watching "Big Business" get all the tax breaks while underfunding education, they will never get my vote. The candidate's plan matters more than their ethnicity.

If the Hispanics were to take over be they illegal or not then this would not be "America" then would it? The only thing illegals are capable of running for is the border. VIVA AMERICA!!!

We have voted for some. We didn't label you, the 60's Chicanos demanded a separate status. Take the label off. We were just being polite.

You know, I'd vote for ANYONE of any ethnic background who'd do something about this darn illegal immigration ... I for one would welcome if a Hispanic politician stood up and said enough is enough ... it really isn't about race or ethnicity, it's about being here illegally ....

Fairydust, do you have proof of this or is this just hearsay? More than likey just an opinion like many statements made here.

Respect for people as individuals does not work well with classifying them as ethnic groups. Bigots are unintelligent and don't deserve or understand reason. If you respect yourself and those you meet who are not bigots, you'll do fine.
