If a person voluntarily, chooses hell over heaven, believing in both of them? That person is not a nonbeliever. You have to believe, to make a choice.

You tell me. sane? maybe. Glutton for punishment? maybe.

There are "believer's" that hate God so much, do to whatever reason, they will pick hell, regardless. Are they sane? yes. They are simply a crybaby and can't handle life. They need to point a finger and blame something or someone in life. They are very much sane. Just crybabies.

Do you possibly mean - Christians: Do you consider a person that is a non-believer sane for choosing Hell over Heaven? If so, then the question is moot. If the person is a non-believer, then they do not believe there is either one,so how could they choose either one? Or is the question simply idiocy masquerading as a viable question? You see, the way you worded it doesn't make sense, but even if you had worded it correctly, the question still wouldn't make any sense because a true non-believer couldn't choose either one, being a non-believer. So I think I've wasted enough time on a foolish question that shouldn't have been asked in the first place.

It's certainly not in ones best interest. Why would a healthy person who actually knew the cost/benefit of each choice choose hell? It's not sensible, sane or not.

Sane, maybe. Rational, no.

If someone is a non-believer, choosing either heaven or hell is moot, since a non-believer wouldn't believe in either.

How rational is choosing something you don't actually believe in?

again it is not a matter of sanity. Most people who choose hell, do so because they have chosen to remain ignorant of the truth. Usually this is motivated by arrogance. They think they already know about God and don't believe in him. It they were humble, they would admit that they lack knowledge and seek the truth. So, it has nothing to do with sanity.

That makes as much sense as asking whether I choose the tooth fairy or the Great Pumpkin. Same fairy tales, different actors.

Well if you consider putting your head in the stove to see if it will really burn you or not (and its not just make believe).... than what would you say YOURSELF?

Nonbelievers expect nonexistence in a conscious state (only our chemical stew remains), which is neither hell nor heaven.
