I would bet that none of the people who think it is just laziness have ever had a serious weight problem.

Twice I've lost over 100 lbs. and gained it back. It isn't as simple as some people think. For many of us, it is so involved as to be almost as time consuming as a full time job. I seldom eat fast food. I cook balanced meals for my family ( or as balanced as they'll eat), I eat lots of vegetables. I know what I have to do- I've done it before but
making two meals, and finding time to exercise for an hour a day along with taking care of a house, children and a full-time job is not as easy or even doable as some people think.

I "stay on the go" all the time, too. The only time I have for this is usually on the weekend. I get up a little after 5 am. I don't have any time for myself except an occasional quick look on here.

Some people need to be less judgemental, especially if you have never walked a mile in someone else's mocassins.

I believe that if a person stays active and eats the right foods, they can keep their weight down some. But a lot of it has to do with making a pig of yourself and being lazy. Some people just can't help themselves. As for myself, I'd be obese if I didn't stay on the go all the time. I manage to hang on to 185lbs at 5'11 and I'm 50. People need to take control of their lives and not let food and laziness take over. I'm sorry if this offends anyone. But it's the truth, we are a fat nation.

Yes and No.. There are cases where it is genetic. But, I also think that a lot of it is environment. Depending on what generation you are. I come from a family of 8 kids. When my parents were kids, it was right out of depression. So when we were kids, my parents theory was 'eat, eat, eat, might not be food tomorrow'... hence.. we all have battled with weight. My kids will never have a weight problem because I never brought that junk in the house. I never cared if they ate all their dinner. If they said they were full, they were full. But that is only when you are a kid. As an adult, it is our own responsibility to get our health in check.

The answer depends on many factors.
Sometimes genes is the reason why people are obese. It is more difficult for them to lose weight.
However, in most cases, the reason is leading a sedentary lifestyle and having access to good food

Yes! There are few cases where a person just simply not help obesity, but most of the times it the AWESOME tasting Jack In The Box Tacos and greasy McDonald's Frys. Just take30 minutes out of everyday and go jogging. Come on you lazy people.

Not always. If your metabolism shuts down due to hypoglycemia, diabetes or menopause etc. it is extremely hard to keep off the weight. However, many people just make excuses. Also, depression and stress can add pounds.

Personally I believe it is a result of laziness. Some will argue that its genetics or thyroid problems, but there are plenty of people with thyroid issues and bad genes that still manage to stay fit.

doing my part? what do you mean? I do cardio for an hour religiously every day and I can't get below 155 pounds, and for my height I am considered overweight. I am as healthy as a horse, though. So...what is your problem?
