and I was just looking for some ideas for a party. I know one year olds can't do much and it's just family coming to the party. Any ideas on what would excite a one year old most?

DO a first birthday theme party(something she likes) get lots of balloons,a small cake for her to tear up. Make sure you have lots of film. Serve finger foods she likes to eat sing happy birthday, eat cake and icecream, open presents, I doubt she will make it through all the presents, my son liked all his balloons. Its easy when she is one and you can do all that sitting at a table or in her highchair. You should do food then presents then cake, if there are going to be bigger kids little goodie bags would be good. She will love whatever you decide. Good luck.

You are right to just keep it family. That will make her very happy. Having people that know and love her will make her the happiest. Keep it short, and whatever food you decide to serve your guests doesn't have to be what she eats. If she wants a hot dog, she should get a hot dog. One of the traditions in our family is to let the birthday baby have her own piece of cake on her tray, and let her eat it in her own inimitable style. Makes for great pictures. You'll probably want to change her out of her party dress before that, tho'. And have a bathtub ready for her right after. For my oldests first birthday, I made her a Raggedy Ann Doll. Took a long time, and was very challenging, but it's pretty precious to her now. (She's 26 and pregnant with her first.) Maybe simpler, but just as precious is a sock monkey. Wal-Mart sells kits.

DON'T DO A PARTY! DON'T DO IT! If you decide to go through with it, keep things low key. Do presents early before your baby gets overtired so she doesn't throw a tantrum when she's supposed to be acting grateful. Plan things so the party will take care of itself so if your baby needs a nap or whatever you can excuse yourself. The wrapping paper and boxes will excite your daughter the most. More than her gifts, probably!

Get her a barbie doll, and maybe some teddy bears .. EVERY female has either one. And get a cake, and invite 2 of her best friends, so they can play with her, she'll feel better when she see her friends.
Ohh just between us, I've notice don't mind how old these lil kids are, they are so smart, you think they aren't watching and observing, I found out they are just as keen as us, ONLY difference is they smaller and younger, so mom don't listen to nobody telling you ohhh she so young she won't even remember.
Or I know so of those family members, they come with all kinds of stupidness.
MOM.... Listen to me .. MAKE THAT BIRTHDAY SO BIG .. DAM whole neighbourhood won come.

get one of those jumping jumping thingy. and one of those cotton candy maker. ofcourse the food and get help from a nanny service for your late night clean up.
