Wait until your uncle is up for an important public service election, then drag it out into the media. Or wait 30 years and then bring it up, saying how witnessing this tragic event is the reason your life turned out so crappy.... Isn't that the way the world works now?

I was molested by my cousin as was my little brother, my younger sibling was under 12 months at the time and had no memory of it until he was in a serious relationship at 19 and began having dreams about having sex with family members. (he was too young when I came forward to remember) He knew that I had been molested but had never thought that he was.
Your uncle should be behind bars, however it all depends on what you saw at age 5 and how dependable that memory is in court. The Police have no choice but to do an investigation but if you truly don't want to tell your brother there is NO WAY to legally prosecute him. Different states have different statute of limitation laws, and you may not be able to prosecute after this much time has passed anyway. I would STRONGLY recommend you talk to your mother/father (if your uncle was abused as a child, which is very likely his brothers and sisters may have a skewed perception, bc they were most likely abused as well) If they don't want to do anything (while they might be skeptical they should want to help in some way) I recommend calling a teen help line for advice in your state. Good luck

Assuming only that these are the facts:
1) It's not rape....it's pedophilia.
2) This incident should have been reported immediately upon the knowledge of it.
3) Unfortunately, there's only you as a witness...your word against your uncle's.
So, what to do:
1) If your brother has no ill-effects from this incident. Better not tell him.
2) If you're of legal age (5 yrs old 16 years ago makes you 21 today) you can confront your uncle now and tell him that you know what he did to your brother. Tell him also that you will keep a close watch on him and watch his every move especially around young kids/boys.
3) Just keep your silence but keep your eyes open.
Be careful.
Peace.

A small baby would not live if it was raped. Come on! I think you are remembering some facts in a wrong manner. You could have dreamed it, or saw something on tv. But if it did happen, I dont think anyone would take your word for it. If you think its true, then dont ever have him babysit your kids. Also, do not tell your brother. He will probably not believe you and think your a liar, unless the abuse kept happening as he aged. Did you tell your mom or dad? If you didnt, then why not? Be careful before you proceed and think about the consequences.

Let it go, it has been many years. Your uncle was 15 years, seriously I don't think teenagers really know what they are doing at that age. I'm 22, I was a teenager not so long ago. Honestly, I don't remember why I did half of the things in my life. Why bring it up now? To get attention, to humiliate the family? There is no purpose to this. I would suggest letting it me.

Ok. First of all, how does he not know he was molested when he was the victim? Second, if that is the truth try the best you can to get him behind bars.

i wouldnt tell your brother, i think it would just upset him.
If this uncle ever comes around again, its a diffrent story, but it would be hard to prove, and hard to find the uncle.
It stinks, but sometimes its better to just let it go.

avoid telling your brother . .
unless your brother starts having emotional problems. .
if that starts to happen, it might be rooted in what happened in the past and he'll need to learn about it just to be able to learn to deal with it (with the help of a good counselor)..
but if he grows up normal and happy, then don't tell him. .

I agree with Lala. If it was that obscure and long ago, you're better off putting it behind you then bringing it up.
