I had a back molar pulled last Thursday. Everything was going fine until the roots got stuck and he had to dig them out. He had to put two stiches in it. The problem is that it has been hurting into my ear on the side that he pulled the tooth on. I have tried the vicodin he gave me, the motrin and the eurythurmicin but nothing seems to help. I just have a constant ache into my ear. Is there anyone out there that can help me out. I am supposed to get the stitches out tomorrow and I would hope that he gives me more vicodin because this is painful to my mouth and ear. Any help woule be appreciated. Thank you

You might have a dry socket. In that case your dentist is going to need to pack your tooth with an iodophor based dressing a few times until the wound heals and the pain lets up. Avoid smoking, if you smoke, or anything that creates positive intraoral pressure (ie, sucking through a straw, vigorous rinsing, fellatio) This will cause the dry socket to worsen)

Rather than dry socket, I woul dsuggest that your TMJ is kind of sore from all the tugging and so on. Moist heat and Motrin will help. Discuss this with your dentist when you get the stitches out.

Stay in course of your medications and describe your pain/discomfort to your Dr. You may be experiencing dry socket after extraction.

it's only been a few days, with all the work you had done . it will be hurting for awhile. the area is cut and brused. . the dentist will fix you up

Tell the doctor this & ask for another round of a different antibotic.
