It is tough being a working mother. Unless you are able to do some type of office/computer work from your home, you will always have some degree of conflict with working/parenting. Speaking from experience, I do not recommend doing daycare at home. I did this for a year and a half after I had my 3rd child. It was nice to be able to be at home with my girls (1 in school), but did not prevent the problem of conflict when one of my children were sick. Obviously, the parents of the children I watched had jobs they had to go to and if I had to close this created a conflict for them. If they took the chance of sending their child, it made it difficult for me to give my child the attention she needed and also risked spreading the illness to other children. It also was difficult if I was sick. I am currently working in early intervention and am lucky that I can make my own schedule, but if I have to cancel a session with a client and can not reschedule it, I do not get paid and the client misses out on services. I also do not have family in the area that can help me out if one of the kids is sick. You basically have to either 1)make the best of the situation, 2) try to find something you can do at home that does not involve direct care with kids and can be done at various hours, or 3) alternate work hours with spouse (have done this too, and it is not ideal for family life, at least not if longterm). Good luck.

That is tough! Seriously ill is one thing, but just a little sick is another. Your employer need to be able to depend on their employees. That is why it is so hard for mothers to work outside of the home. I understand that a kid needs their mom if they are feeling rotten, but I also understand the need for dependability in the workplace. It is tough!!!! You should have a caregiver that will give extra special care to your child when they need it! (maybe grandma??)

To honestly answer your question:The best job for a mom of 2 is a stay at home mom. If you need the extra income try babysitting a couple of extra kids in your home. YOu can put ads in the local paper, on craigslist, postaroo or other sites similar to that.

Sell Avon, or something that will keep you at home most of the time, even if you have to drive around to drop off books or pick up orders you cna take the kids along for the ride. If you cant do something home based work when dad is home part time at a department store.

I work 3rd shift as a nurse for an agency.
Top pay.. all I'm missing is them sleeping.. I don't work every single night so I do get a break.. So I'm still technically a sahm..
I hate daycares and would never put my children in one.. but that's my personal view.. I don't look down on other people who use them.. ;)
