This year is the first year I am taking all AP courses and so far I have B's in pretty much all of them. Last year I only took 2 and got B's also but in regular classes I got straight A's. When looking at a transcript do colleges prefer people who get mostly B's in all AP classes or people with mostly A's and one or two B's in pretty much all regular classes and maybe one or two AP classes. I'm looking to get into a very good school and want to take the best classes and get the best grades in order to be accepted into one. So I guess my question would be is it better to get B's in All AP classes or A's in regular classes?

B's in AP because you're challenging yourself a lot more. Colleges just want to know that you're up to a challenge and risking your ego.

Get A's in all your classes. It's possible. I have 3 AP's this year and i have all A's so far. If you don't think you're up to it, then just take regular classes and do well in those. Only take AP's in subjects you do well in. I am taking AP Chem., AP Comp. Science, and AP US History. I enjoy each of these classes. English, also known as the devil of all classes, is something I do not enjoy, so I didn't take AP. Just do your best and things will work out for you. Besides, undergraduate schools aren't that important. You just need to worry about getting into a good graduate school. Consider a good state school!

I would say that the A.P. B's are better...after all, they are counting towards your college credit and are most likely the best to fit your ability.
However, you might want to study more often, or make a point of doing extra credit. A B in an A.P. class isn't quite up to standards if you're getting A's in regular classes.
