Every true Christian goes from door to door to teach his neighbors about the Bible's good news. It is interesting that only Jehovah's Witnesses are so clearly identified with the preaching work; globally more than 6 million preach publicly each month.

(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you.

(Acts 5:42) Every day in the temple and from house to house they continued without letup teaching and declaring the good news about the Christ, Jesus.

(Acts 20:20) I did not hold back ...from teaching you publicly and from house to house

It's sad when someone who claims to respect the bible actually insults or even advocates attacking a peaceful preacher. Sad but completely expected.

(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching... You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

Incidentally, the typical Jehovah's Witness knocks at hundreds of doors each year. He has already experienced degrading behavior from householders, some of whom: stand there naked, mimic Satanists, proposition lewd acts, brandish weapons, sic dogs, scream profanities, accuse crimes, and call Witnesses anti-American (inside the USA) or pro-American (outside the USA).

Haven't you ever heard of 'hedging your bets'? Simple risk vs. reward analysis should make anyone very reluctant to abuse these ministers.

(Acts 5:38,39) I say to you, Do not meddle with these men, but let them alone; (because, if this scheme or this work is from men, it will be overthrown; but if it is from God, you will not be able to overthrow them;) otherwise, you may perhaps be found fighters actually against God.”

Jehovah's Witnesses are going to knock on your door unless you specifically and unequivocally tell them that you do not want them knocking, or if they fear for their own safety. Nothing else will really deter them, so you would be going to a lot of effort to accomplish nothing but pleasing Satan.

Really, if someone goes out of their way to disregard Christian preachers and preaching, what is he saying about himself?

(Luke 10:1-17) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos... “He that listens to you listens to me too. And he that disregards you disregards me too. Moreover, he that disregards me disregards also him that sent me forth.”

There really isn't. They are trying to show and share their religion, so just continue to tell them you aren't interested. Or don't go to the door.

Also remember--they are rarely the same people, so it's not like they have a list of "Who to ask--Who not to ask."

Give them respect--then respectfully decline.

Oh, don't eat them -- think of the cholesterol. Oatmeal is better for you.

I always try to restrain my smart@ss comments -- yes, I am capable of it! -- and politely tell them I am happy on my own path and hope they are happy on theirs.

And if I need to say it again two days later and two days after that and the day after that and three days after that and so on...
So be it.

if you know it's them don't answer the door. Put a card at or near your door that says "no salesmen and no J.W.'s". If you do answer the door and it is them, close the door!! In my neighborhood we used to call each other to let our neighbors know "they" were coming door-to-door.

I don't understand, you don't look through the peephole to see who is there before opening it? Just walk away and go about your business, ignore the door. They'll walk away.

Just explain to them when they come to the door you are not interested in a polite manner. Tell them thanks for thinking of you and go on with your life.

A knew somebody who had a sign on the door that says:
'We are Catholics and we are not going to switch to other religion. Please respect'.

But what I used to do (and always worked) was to say 'Lo siento, no entiendo ingles'.
