If we all flush just one holy book down the toilet we can start to remove the "magic" aura of these books so that eventually we can discuss spirituality without having someone chime in with

"but the Bible/Quran/torah/ says ..."

Peace.

You're no better than a book burning Christian! NO this won't work! There are printing presses. They want you to waste books so they can print and sell you more. So that you can flush them!. It's a business. You win battles with economics. Convince people that tithing is wrong or that Christians can't be trusted with money.(easy!) Take away their cash and the preachers go get jobs and the people spend their sundays doing things that actually stimulate the economy.

no, because spirituality doesn't go beyond these books, without them, we get a world that is self-hating, manupulative and unreliable. Everything written in those books was written to help humans survive, if you take them seriously every rule has a purpose. SURVIVAL. It's just these damn super realist who take the things too far. They think that perfection is the only way home. Jesus died so we didn't have to be perfect. But we need to be as perfect as possible, b/c that shows self-love (that we respect ourselfs enough to honor our bodies) The bible says God is Love, therefore if you love yourself and obey the bible the best you can, ask for forgiveness for destroying yourself, from yourself and god then you will be alright

No because man has replaced God or whom ever you believe in, and is the reason for all the hate and discontent. You see, Islam for the most part is a good religion. Only the Imam's and the cleric's turn it into a radical group calling for murder.

If we took all the religion out of the world, man would still find a great way to mess it up. Hitler wasn't a religious zealot and he sure messed things up.

I have found that most people can't distinguish between spirituality and religion assuming you believe there is a difference to begin with. And because people can be very protective of their faith/religion and will fight anyone and everyone who tries to denounce it or convince you it's wrong, I don't think it'll do any good to flush any holy book (unless your aim is to start a huge holy war). Each religion has their holy book; and they use that book as a corner stone of their faith, people will die to defend/save it.

your deep man ,, theres a lot of paths to spirituality and to deny the efficacy of one is to deny the power of all ,as this means mans search is what ,,in vain ,,this is the right question for this area exactly,, ive read most of the doctrines and the major religious veiws in 50 years ,,and follow a hebrews words from 2000 years ago ,,not that i dont respect your right to be right, or wrong ,,God will decide in the end ,, if i were a plumber I'd say dont do that to the toilet,, but wait ,,thats the opposite of the plumbers wishes ,,see the opposite veiw could be right Hmmmmm thought provoking isnt it ,,

Won't work. Many have tried to banish the Bible. It's still a bestseller. You'll make it more of a bestseller.

This is a very nasty minded question.

But, if it were not religion, it would be those wanting power and wealth. Someone, or something, will always rule over society.
