I'm not a trainer, but I lead a very active outdoor life and it really helped me when I went and had my legs and feet massaged from time to time. If you haven't tried it, you might consider it. It loosened up my muscles so they wouldn't cramp.

Take calcium tablets. I get cramps in my lower legs and the doctor told me to do that. It really helps.
