Can someone clarify when to put the subjest pronouns infront of the verb? I am kind of confused.

It depends on the situation, for the most part you would use "ellos están" when writing or some other formal setting, but if you were just talking you can just use "Están". Example: "Donde están tus amigos?" you can use either "Están en la escuela" or "Ellos están en la escuela"

If someone ask you, you can answer "están".
- ¿Donde están tus hermanos? (Where are your brothers?)
- Están en la cocina (They're in the kitchen).

- Quisiera ir a visitar a tus hermanos (I'd like to visit your brothers)
- Ellos están en el restaurant (they're at the restaurant)

Practice is the key.

when you know that you are talking about someone you can say just estan, when there is nothing telling who are making the action, you say ellos estan.

you could say it either way. its fine unless theres a lot of people in the thing you're writing about. then you might want to use names.

you can say it either way. you don't have to use the subject pronoun. in informal everyday conversation, its not used often.
