I'm homeschooled and I'm in the 11th grade. I've been homeschooled since 4th grade. I have the option to really go to any school I want but I'd rather be homeschooled. Plus I never really missed the whole social thing because I did a lot of extra things like girl scouts, sports etc.
Also with most colleges they love getting students who were homeschooled. Mostly because of the one on one environment. And I could go as fast as I wanted because I was never held back with the rest of a class.

My daughter is 12, has been homeschooled since she was 8. She has had both wonderful traditional classroom experiences and really bad ones. She knows that all she has to do is say the word about wanting to go back to public school and her father and I will support that. We have made it clear we are looking to move to an area with a better school district and a larger performing arts community, so she can pursue her interests in school as well as out if she so chooses. However, at this time my daughter has made it perfectly clear she never wants to go back to tradtional school again. Now of course, this may change and it is certainly a statement tinged with her natural flair for the dramatic! But she truely feels homeschooling is the best place for her and even tho we are still planning to move, she is adamantly against going back to school. We have made it clear we will never force her to return, but that if she feels the time is right all she needs to do is say the word and we'll arrange a visit to the school and start the process of getting her back in.

My children are all homeschooled. 2 have graduated into the college and working world. 2 are still at home.
Yes they do like it!
I used to think that my oldest hated it. But I've been proven wrong. He now has 3 children and he has asked his wife to home-school them!
My college daughter was very quiet about home schooling along the way and I didn't know for SURE if she liked it or not. She was a very good student and excelled in her work --- she taught herself from kindergarten through 12th grade and learned calculus on her own.
She told me about a fun conversation that she had with a group of parents and co-members of her highschool equestrian team -- they (public schoolies) were sitting around discussing the "perils of homeschooling" ---- My dd and another homeschooled girl sat there and smiled. After a bit they both very happily told the group about the wonders of homeschooling....... The group didn't realize that these 2 graduating students had NOT been to public school -- they were amazed because the 2 girls were the team favorites! One was captain and the other was the top achiever.
It was fun for me to actually hear from my daughter that she truly LIKED and supports homeschool. She is getting A's in college now and still has many friends.
My other 2 are also great students and do like the fact that they are at home and can go from studies to hobbies to friends to work etc... and so on and so forth without waiting for a bell to ring.

My kids love being homeschooled. My son (6) has cousins and a friend who went off to school this year (grades 1 and K) and he knows that he would be there if we didn't homeschool. He has absolutely no desire to go to school. My dd is 9 and we've talked about her maybe trying out school and she has no desire whatsoever.

I started homeschooling when I was a Junior in high school (I am now a senior). I like it a lot but then again I had the choice.

My kids love being home schooled. They have friends that go to public school. I've asked my kids, "Do you want to go to public school?" They always respond with a resounding, "NO WAY!" They gloat all the time about how they get so much work done in just a few hours and then have time to do whatever they want. They love that we can take a trip to the apple orchard or the science musuem right in the middle of the week. We get to choose which days will be our holidays. We're taking a four day weekend for my birthday. :) And then we're getting another four day weekend for Halloween. If we wake up in the morning and we're just not in the mood for school then we have the option to take the day off. Of course, this means double lessons on another day. But how nice to wake up and have control of your schedule. We can take vacation whenever we want. We get a lot done during the week when places are less crowded. Plus, we do mostly hands on lessons. Just today we talked about Johnny Appleseed. Then we took the apples we picked at the orchard and made homemade applesauce. The kids had a blast. We sit down for math and reading but everything else is hands on. I really doubt my kids would be able to sit in a classroom all day doing worksheets. And why on earth would I want them to?

I agree with the first answer. There are good and bad things about homeschooling and also about public schools.
I live in Rural PA and am thankful for a small public school. Where everybody knows your name! Without the socializing skill that a child learns in a public school, one will be lost upon 'graduating' to the real world.

I would certainly have more "me" time if the kids were in school, but I wouldn't trade knowing them better, seeing the AH-HA moments, and just watching them grow for anything.
My older son was in PS for 2.5 years before we started homeschooling. I have asked him if he'd rather go back and he's told me he prefers learning at his own pace and finishing school early and going to park days and weekly field trips (he's 11 now).

I thank God I wasn't homeschooled. I'm not very good at making friends as it is, and I don't think I would have had any friends as a kid if I didn't go to school with other kids. Homeschooling is just wrong. Even if a kid has special needs and public school doesn't work out, there are still better options than home school.
