I kknow you will think this is crazy but it really does work. First be in a quiet place.Find a very slow and smooth album you might like. Then start to relax in a good position. On your back arms straight, palms flat and open to the ceiling. Start breathing very slowly and deeply. do that about 20 times then start from the bottom of your feet and work your way up speaking to each part of your body. To you toes, to your ankles and up up you go. This is what you say. Toes relax, relax, toes relax and go to sleep. say this about 3 times for each body part. make sure your room is completely dark. No light as your mind rests when it is totally dark. If there is even a smal amount of light the mind stays somewhat awake. I gues it thinks it will miss something. I have severe insomnia and my grandson had severe problems and this works for both of us. Last thing no caffiene or activity(stimulation) atleast 1 hour before you try this. Once you adapt to this it will be like nature to you. I promise it works if you follow exactly what I said.

I find sleeping out under the stars is brilliant - did it over the weekend on some adventurous training - got to bed at 19.10hrs woke at 00.20 feeling fresh as a daixy and warm and cozy - set me up for the week.
Every time I do this - even in the coldest Winter I function from waking in a spectacularly together manner.
For the mornings I set five alarms usually as I sleep from 2 till 6 o'clock max. I get up when the last one goes off and function okay. If I don't have to go to work I will stay in bed a bit longer.
Some of us just don't need the sleep.
Never lie down until you feel tired either.
You do need to read up on sleep hygeine to promote quality sleep try the link below.

Your sleep pattern is out of synch, and there are two ways of sorting this out.
1) Stay up now until 10pm tonight, watch the sun rise, go for a walk, grab a newspaper and read it whilst listening to the morning breakfast show. Remind yourself what a fresh clean morning is like. try to stay active throughout the day, get off the internet and get outside, not talking about the gym or jogging a marathon. Whatever you enjoy outside of your home.
STOP drinking any caffiene/alcohol at 6pm the latest.
One last thing arrange to meet a friend the next day for breakfast, so you have some added impetus to get out of bed.
2) Same as above only doing it gradually over the space of a week.

You must have lot of tension or some sort of worry
that is bugging you, if that is the case you need to talk to
someone that you trust, someone close to you, that you can let
it all out, get it off your chest.
What ever it is, i am sure that it can be sorted out, no matter
how big it is, it may seem like a mountain to you, but once it's out
you will feel much better, trust me.
It can not be as bad as making yourself ill over it, you will do
if you carry on like that.
Or have you changed your working shift, if that is so then it will
take time to adjust to the system.
Which ever the case i wish you best of luck and good health.

Your inability to go to sleep might be anxiety related. This manifests itself in a way that whenever you go to bed there's a lack of stimulation, therefore your brain is free to think about daily problems. These problems will start to worry you, and the stress will create stimulants in your body which blocks you from feeling sleepy and going to sleep.
If this is the case than this is what I'm advising you:
1.) Before you go to sleep, have a notebook next to your bed, and write down all the things that worry you, and you feel that forgetting them might get you in trouble. Also if you have possible ways to solve the problem, write those down also, but it is not necessary.
2.) After this is done, grab a book, one which is capable to take you away from "reality", such as a fantasy or at least fiction. Books on stressful topics should be avoided. Lay down in a way that might make you sleepy (since I fall asleep on my stomach, laying on my back will not make me sleepy, but on the side works) and start reading until you feel very sleepy.
After this you should be able to fall asleep. But in order for this to work you have to set a specific time for you to go to sleep and stick to it. Do not delay each day the time to go to sleep.
If it is not anxiety related, then I just typed a whole lot for nothing. But either way, hopefully you'll be able to regain your rest...Good luck

Don't sleep til 12-3pm! Wake up by 9am, no matter what time you fall asleep. Make yourself stay up. Give it a day or 2 & it should put you back one a schedule.

Well, for one, I think you must remain in your bed because I highly doubt that you will fall asleep as long as you are up. Second, my suggestion is, and this has worked for me many, many times, you lie in bed, as relaxed as you can possibly get, close your eyes and visualize a big blank chalkboard. Concentrate only on seeing the blank board. Now, and thoughts that creep into your head you have to see as writing on the board. Your goal is to keep that board clean. As soon as a thought comes up, erase it. Again and again and again. Good luck, I know how frustrating it can be to not be able to fall asleep.
