honey, im afraid that peacocks are not good for keeping as pets. you'd do better by setting them free in florida or something. try greece.

I had peacocks for a while, and they will eat the same food a chicken will. We fed ours wheat, and in the summer they just ate bugs as they wandered our yard. The problem with peacocks is they like get on top of your car so they can look at themselves in the shiny, and they scratch it up. They also poop on your car. Peacocks need a high place to roost at night. They will fly up on your house if they can, or into your trees.
If you have lots of room for them to roam about and places for them to get up high, they are great. They are wonderful watch dogs, they will let you know when a stranger enters your property, and they of course are beautiful. They are noisy, so make sure your neighbors won't mind their noise. If you have a male and female, be aware that they will mate and you will have babies.

Ok first off, NEVER release captive wildlife into the wild as suggested by the other user. It's extremely detrimental to the ecosystem and in many cases, illegal. Aaaaanyways...

Unfortunately I don't know where you live so I don't know your climate, but if the peafowl are to be kept outside and it gets cold in the winter where you are (aka below 50 degrees F at night) you will need some sort of a heated night house for them, pretty much like a chicken coop.

As far as what to feed them, in the wild fowl such as peafowl, grouse, chickens, etc would largely eat things like seeds, fruit and insects, so you'll want to provide a diet similar to that. I would think (though you may want to do some searching online to confirm this) that feeding a commercial diet that is made for chickens/quail/grouse supplemented with fresh diced fruits and vegetables would be a decent diet for them.

One last thing to consider...are your peafowl just roaming around your backyard or are they in a enclosed pen (with a roof)? If they are just loose in your backyard, they will escape. Even with those big tails that the males have they can fly well enough to get into tall trees. So if you really want to keep peafowl I'd recommend either keeping them in a LARGE enclosed pen or trim their wings (most likely with the help of a vet). However if you're going to trim their wings keep in mind this will make them much more vulnerable to predators, such as dogs, foxes and raccoons that may be in your area.

peacocks are fine as pets. i actually have a lot of them and they are friendly enough that they will take food out of your hands. get them some grain feed. the stuff that you would feed like wild birds. they also love leftover bread and any other food like that. they need some where where it is warm and away from the rain. have it be a nice bushy nesty area. they originally nest in trees, so something along the lines of that. you can always look it up on google. well good luck!

Build a large cage. For Peacocks as large as you can afford. Make sure they have plenty of high perches and a platform high up for nesting.

Allowing them to roam free will take food from native wildlife and put them at greater risk from predators or roaming dogs and cats.

dont feed peafowl seeds...as in wild bird seed they prefer whole grain go to a feed store and they can help you .they will also eat some fruits and vegtables and grasses. also they can fly considerable distances and will probably leave if not confined. If kept confined they need to be given "grit" available at feed store ( usually crushed oyster shell) this aids in digesting the grain.
