If you can not handle full time work and full time school (due to family and other) can you get student loans that will provide you with enough money to where you do not have to work (will pay all your bills and other misc.)? If so, where do you go to apply for these loans?

To all the JERKS who obviously did not understand what I was asking...I'm not talking about the government giving me money, I qualify for many goverment assistance programs, but because I don't believe in socialism, we don't use them. My husband does work FULL TIME and GOES TO SCHOOL FULL TIME and I work from home (watching my daughter at the same time), so we don't need to go FLIP BURGERS. I wanted to know if there was a L-O-A-N (NOT A HAND OUT) that we can re-pay AFTER he is out of school, but something that would give us enough money to where he doesn't have to leave the house at 5am to school and not return home until 8pm from work, and having to work every weekend. He doesn't even have time to study now. You know, if you don't have anything constructive to say, you shouldn't post anything. Thanks to those of you who are actually trying to help.

Oh, and another thing, the reason ehy my husband is having to manage school and a family is because when most people turn 18, graduate, and go to college and can party and live cheaply and etc... he was serving his 4 years in the Navy defending our nation. So, now he has to pay the price of missing those years when most people are completing college (talk to anyone in the military and they will tell you it's hard to go back to college after service). And the GI bill does not pay enough, major univisities charge A LOT to attend. Any info on scholarships (like the first person) is greatly appreciated, esspecially if you know any for prior military.

Have you considered applying for scholarships and grants? There are some limited scholarships for those who have been outside college for a period of time after high school graduation. It could help minimize some the loan payback after college graduation. I have included some free membership scholarship websites listed below. Also, your school's financial aid website might list some additional scholarships too which require an applicaiton. Just remember, do not apply for scholarships in which requires a fee to apply for them.

Yes, you can live off student loans -- my wife worked but we still did not make enough and school was the most important part, flipping burgers was not an option. We took out the max. on Stafford Student Loans, however I will say now we were fools. We are working on paying back my loans, while at the same time investing in our kids college so they will not have the same problem we are now having.

I know students that used student loans for living expenses, etc., However, the student is still obligated to repay the loan. Before using the money speak with your the Financial Aid advisor at your college.

No you can't live off just student loans with the cost of everything today. Ask around to counselors at your school about pell grants or theres alot of stipends put out by companies that go by unused as no one takes the time to search for them.

Student Loans should be for paying the cost of obtaining an education, not mooching off the U.S. Government.

If you're a student using a Student Loan, may I respectfully suggest that you go flip Burgers somewhere?
