I agree about the not telling her until you're sure; in the mean time, you might want to talk to her about topics that are relevant to the subject (gay marriage, shows on tv like will and grace(what does she think of Andrew's character on Desperate Housewives)) and see what her opinion is overall on gay society, just kinda make the questions kinda vague so she doesn't really get any kind of hint.

There are numerous sources on the internet that can help if you're still having trouble-it's just a bit of reading; there are usually conversation starters in there too. It might also help to talk to a gay person (if you know one) and see what they suggest.

Hope that helps with your question. You also might want to put this question up in other categories.

If you just aren't interested, then I wouldn't have the "I think I'm gay" discussion. I think I'd say "I don't seem to be interested".

If you have a DEFINITE attraction to the same gender, I'd do a reality check. Is your mom going to flip or is she pretty cool? If she's going to flip, and you live at home, or are dependent on her for your support...I'd be cautious about coming out. There are some parents who have kicked their kids to the curb for being gay.

(*sigh*) Honestly, I wouldn't say ANYTHING until you're sure one way or the other...but you could always have the "Would you be upset if one of your children was gay" discussion.

My daughter did that with me. Come to find out, she wasn't asking for her...her best friend was gay, and wanted someone to talk with about it..and wanted to make sure I wouldn't freak out. Apparently, I gave the right answer....because she ended up talking to me about it.

The answer to this question is as variable as the number of guys who ask it. It depends on the dynamics of your relationship with your mother. For some the direct approach is the best while for others a roundabout discussion might do. For some the answer is they never can because they fear mom's reaction. You just have to go with what you know.

Depending on how old you are, your mom probably already know or suspects anyway. You know you can't hide anything from her.
