In Georgia the police academy lasts for 11 weeks. It consists of physical training, classroom lecture and tests, firearms training and emergency vehicle operations. It can be difficult if you're weak in any one area.

Oh, the Police Academy is a horrible show but they probably round it off to two hours on the telly. Steve Gutenberg is especially sickening in this show and Bobcat is just an idiot! My advice is don't bother with it for the two hours...switch the channel!!

It is not too hard if you have planned on that as a career. If you are in reasonable physical shape, and have some common sense you should be OK. You better be ready to take orders from people, and live within a very structured setting for a while. It is well worth it.

It depends on which PD. CHP, which is the only one I've actually done research into, lasts ~1 year, and is very physically and mentally difficult.

I would think it depends on what force your joining.
In nyc its 6 months, and if your out of shape then i suppose it could be considered hard, but not overly so.
