This girl ive been freiends with for about five years throughout highschool and middle school we have been very close. I have always wanted to date her , and she knows that...and recently my parents were out of town and I thought we were just going to hang out and watch a movie. We did...but she started to try to hold my hand..nothing big I know..but it was a shocker. So we were sitting there and I was holding her hand...im not sure what this means? I dont know how i should go about this...i love this girl literally...and I just want to talk to her...but everytime i talk to her about dating its the same " i dont want a boyfriend" but this time is different...shes never done anything like that. Shes never showed affection towards me when shes sober :) . I think it might be the next step. Were leaving for college in a year and its just making me really want to be with her...I saw her tonight and were starting to talk on the phone more often...any help or suggestions?

Sometimes the direct approach is best, just ask. But if that seems too bold for your liking, look for the following signs. Pay attention to your conversations with the person in question.
1) Does this person show a special interest in having a conversation with you and, once started, make an effort to keep that conversation going?
2) Has this person taken a sudden interest in your life and hobbies? This is a sure sign that he or she is interested in something.
3) Other elements of body language include frequent eye contact, holding your gaze and looking down before looking away.
4) Does the person you're wondering about just plain smile at you a lot?

Well I'm a girl so I should know.
When she holds you hand, it indicates that shes interested in you. But you don't wanna scare her off and do it too soon. Start showing signs you're interested too. And then maybe you'll find the right time to do it. Like around college or way before that. But that might be a bit stressful for her. Make it work first. Let her breathe. Ask her out on a few dates, let her have fun, be sweet and witty, BE YOURSELF. And then..if you start seeing changes and more happiness and affection, Like if shes smiling more :') go for it.

sit her down and tell her you care deeply for her and explain that before you leave for college you want confirmation of what she feels for you. tell her to cut the crap about not wanting a boyfriend. no dont tell her that (she is just a eats!) just explain that her actions conflict with her earlier comments.
its better for you to discuss it with her face to face so she cant come up with some excuse to hang up on the phone
