Hey what is like the appropriate proto-call for giving someone a promise ring? I am giving one to my girlfriend of one year on October 14th. Do I like get on one knee or is there a good poem to recite. I'm giving it to her at dinner. Come on people ideals please!

Oh and quick details. Been there done that don't assume this is some high school crush. We're both out of high school and are adults thank-you very much. Its been a hard year for us, financially and emotionaly. She's my best friend and I do plan on marrying her and spending the rest of my life with her someday after things settle down for us.

How cute!!!
She's a very lucky girl...

Yeah, you can get down on one knee (or not), it's your choice really...

Just be yourself, don't say a poem if it's not your style at all or if it makes you uneasy... Tell her how you feel, no matter how you do it (could be a song, a card, etc..)

Good luck honey, everything's gonna be just fine and the two of you will live happily ever after ;)

No knees, no poems, ..........personally I would not get a girl promise ring as you are really not in a position to promise her anything and it is somewhat putting her in a position of reciprocating that promise which she is not in a position of doing.
But if you HAVE to give a ring........at the right moment, say " I have really enjoyed our past year together and would like to give this (don't call it a promise ring) to celebrate this wonderful year and I hope we can keep discovering our love together.

No, don't be dorky about it. Those are speacial things you should save for when you propose. Tell her to close her eyes and give you her hand, then slip the ring on, and while holding her hand say "Oh you mean the world to me" or some **** like that. And relax. It's not binding.

After one year you want to give her a promise ring?

Don't do it. Honestly don't do it. It's a waste of money and shows your emotional immaturity.

My usual protocol (note correct spelling) is to give them a pearl necklace instead.

No idea.
I've wanted to share one with my friend.
I don't know how to present it though.
