Today's 'fridges are about the same. The name may be different on the door, but the compressors are not all that different, with some companies overlapping. If I remember correctly, Whirlpool, Frigidaire and Magic Chef are all made by the same people.

(It's like TVs: most parts inside any TV are made by Sony, Zenith and RCA, just in different configurations.)

I have a Frigidaire fridge (middle of the road model from Lowe's) and I have noticed that the fluctuation in temperature of the kitchen affects the temp inside the fridge a great deal. I have a fridge thermometer and try my best to keep it at 39 to 40-degrees. But I find that it is an uphill battle if I don't have the freezer 3/4 full and the kitchen is warm.

I don't know if I could recommend the Fridgidaire models for the reason that i think it is running too much to keep it at 40. Then again, if you pay more you get better insulation, which a big deal if you are trying to monitor energy consumption. Also a door mounted ice dispenser (with water) save you from having to open the door all the time - more energy savings.

See http://www.samsung.com/Products/Refrigerators/SidebySide/RM255LASHXAA.asp for a crazy awesome fridge that lets you change which drawers do what and dial in a specific temp for each drawer.

All side by sides have water and ice dispenser in the door now. I just bought a new refrigerator and I had to choose on a very limited budget so I got a Frigidaire. The one I had to replace was a Kelvinator, I think that is a Sears brand. The Kelvinator was great and it has lasted well over 20 years. If they still make them and you can find one, I believe you would be very satisfies with it.

we've an LG - that's the enterprise who makes the factors for GE Profile. the elementary is that of the GE Profile, however the fee is that of a "no call regularly occurring" - i think of it grow to be easily a million/3 the fee. twin zones shop the vegetables crisp, the culmination clean (plenty longer than different refrigerators we've had). the seller for me grow to be that the bread remains for weeks in this refrigerator whilst in comparison with others!
