OPS is what they call it in some cities. There is always some inspecting agency - you should be able to call the police station and ask someone for that number. You file a report and the police officer gets in trouble. If it's something more serious like sexual abuse, then you may also want to look into an attorney, but I don't like attorneys. They usually know all the judges and the police.

It depends on the jurisdiction. Large police agencies have Internal Affairs units. The District attorney will normally have someone that can direct you depending on the nature of the abuse. Every city has a number of attorneys that specialize in police abuse cases. Some are only in it for the money and others see a real roll for them to play in the criminal justice system.

Go out of county or state to another police station to inform them, tell your lawyer, and call up Amnesty and let them know the police abused you. Go get them girl!!

Go to the police commission or whomever oversees the police and holds them accountable. Consider going to the media to get their assistance on behalf of the person with the complaint.

A lawyer or the state police. the state police govern the county sheriff and your municipal department and so on i believe.
