I think only the ones who really deserve it should stay. You can not give a VISA to a terrorist or a killer, or somebody like that. I think if that illegal person has been here doing honest work, paying taxes, studying, and trying to make a better life, he/she should be allowed to stay.

When people came way back when there was no welfare state, and even then they wanted to make sure you had money in your pocket to let you in.

They drain education funds and social services, and the taxes poor people pay doesn't begin to pay their cost in those services. The rest of us subsidize them. Multiply each net loss by the 11 to 20 million illegally here, and you can see why California and Texas have two of the worst sets of public schools in the nation....and the problem is moving past the border states now.

That is why ALL countries limit how many poor immigrants can come. Those here illegally are taking a better life at our expense, and our children are paying the biggest price through substandard education.

No, I disagree with you completely - they need to be deported or return voluntarily to their own countries and they need to apply through the legal procedures to return. However, I also believe that people who do not return voluntarily and wait for deportation should not be allowed to EVER return again because they blew their chance. Everyone wants a chance at a better life and no one should be allowed to jump to the front of the line ahead of people who are patiently going through the legal procedures. How would you feel if you were one of those who were doing things legally and many others were jumping ahead of you and walking on into the country? What makes them think they should be more entitled to a better life than those who are doing it the right way?

unlawful aliens do no longer qualify for public housing, nor foodstuff stamps or welfare, although some be attentive to the ropes and can control the equipment and get all 3, often by ability of bribing the welfare representative I unquestionably have heard, I haven't any evidence, yet one black woman they caught become getting 12 welfare assessments on the comparable time yet, distinctive addresses , she had mink coats Cadillacs owned various condominium homes etc so which you notice some one interior the be attentive to can get away with lots. B.T.W. unlawful aliens are actually not meant to be secure by ability of our shape, nor are the entitled to a public defender, yet, in maximum situations they are presented with a lawyer,

So many protesters have based their arguments on how

this land is made up of immigrants. Ernie Lujan for one, suggests we should

tear down the Statue of Liberty because the people now in question aren't

being treated the same as those who passed through Ellis Island and other

ports of entry.

Maybe we should turn to our history books and point out to

people like Mr. Lujan why today's American is not willing to

accept this new kind of immigrant any longer.

Back in 1900 when there was a rush from all areas of

Europe to come to the United States, people had to get off a ship

and stand in a long line in New York and be documented. Some

would even get down on their hands and knees and kiss the ground. They made

a pledge to uphold the laws and support their new country in good and bad

times. They made learning English a primary rule in their new American

households and some even changed their names to blend in with their new

home.

They had waved good bye to their birth place to give their children a new

life and did everything in their power to help their children assimilate into one culture. Nothing was

handed to them. No free lunches, no welfare, no labor laws to protect them.

All they had were the skills and craftsmanship they had brought

with them to trade for a future of prosperity.

Most of their children came of age when World War II broke

out. My father fought along side men whose parents had come

straight over from Germany , Italy , France and Japan . None of

these 1st generation Americans ever gave any thought about what country their

parents had come from.

They were Americans fighting Hitler, Mussolini and the Emperor

of Japan . They were defending the United States of America as one people.

When we liberated France , no one in those villages were looking for the

French-American or the German American or the Irish American. The people of

France saw only Americans.

And we carried one flag that represented one country. Not one of those

immigrant sons would have thought about picking up another country's flag and

waving it to represent who they were. It would have been a disgrace to their

parents who sacrificed so much to be here. These immigrants truly knew what

it meant to be an American. They stirred the melting pot into one red, white

and blue bowl.

And here we are in 2006 with a new kind of immigrant who

wants the same rights and privileges. Only they want to achieve it by

playing with a different set of rules, one that includes the

entitlement card and a guarantee of being faithful to their mother

country. I'm sorry, that's not what being an American is all about

I believe that the immigrants who landed on Ellis Island in the early 1900s

deserve better than that for all the toil, hard work and sacrifice in raising

future generations to create a land that has become a beacon for those

legally searching for a better life.

I think they would be appalled that they are being used as an

example by those waving foreign country flags.

And for that suggestion about taking down the Statue of

Liberty, it happens to mean a lot to the citizens who are

voting on the immigration bill. I wouldn't start talking about

dismantling the United States just yet.

If they came here legally, no problem, just as all the others did before. We are in a different time, where people from other countries are here to destroy our way of life, as well as crime, drugs and terrorists facing us in some of these groups. we are loosing, in an economic way, tax payers are to suffer the burden of taking care of most of them, and most hate us, and want to partake in destroying what morals we have left, as well as religious beliefs, and all attached to them are being taken away, leading to a socialistic government, or governments. if we do not recap on these things, we will never get America back. It is every ones duty, as an American to see to it that this does not happen to America!!!!!!!!

Illegal immigrants are ILLEGAL. They are breaking the laws that the rest of us have to obey. They are shoving our values up our noses by disregarding our laws.

Yes, your ancestors and mine came here once upon a time. They paid their way over, they went through the governmental processing. They earned their way and became citizens.

Illegal immigrants today are ignoring all that and should be dealt with very strictly.'

They are able to stay, and that's the truth. Immigration is so overwhelmed that they won't come get somebody unless they break a law serious enough to go to jail. Immigration is broken. Some people may hate immigrants who come here illegally, but it sure seems like some other people are really eager to hire them, so who's right? The people with the money, that's who.

i think those who lived in the U.S for more than ten years and working and paying their taxes with valid SSN should allow to stay and continue working.many immigrant do have good education. but seek to take lesser jobs to take care of their families. just need a chance to excel.many have children born in the U.S with either mother/father U.S citizen and possible would still face a deportation by I.N.S . I strongly think immigration is a money buisness and politices .lawers ,I.N.S ,makes the money off immigrants and suck their saving away.

Well, when people immigrated here years ago, they had to stand in line and be documented, noone has a problem with people coming here legally and assimilating. It's people who come here illegally that we have issues with.
